FTP help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi newbie here

having problems with FTP.
Have FTP software installed, but don't understand how to set up my PC to use the FTP program.

where do I put my website folders on my pc so I can transfer them to my FTP software?

How do I call them an index page ( or what to save them as)from my editor?
where do i save them to then?

dont want to use free hosting like everyone here said not to.

Hello Sholly
Welcome :thumbsup

You can find valuable help on this board - however your questions are way too generic and broad to trigger answers that can be valuable to you.
It sounds like what you need is a basic 101 on how to work with remote files, servers, hosting, html/php/whatever files etc etc.

It's not rocket science and if you put some effort (and don't give up) you'll fast learn what you need, but it's still beyond what can be explained in a single board answer. (It's like asking: "Give me a crash course on chemistry in 5 lines")

My reccomendation would be to google for a technical introduction on how to setup a site on a remote server, and start from there. In a couple of hours you'll probably know enough, if you don't give up, to come back here and post specific questions that people will be more than willing to answer.

good luck for now!:thumbsup
