Do you update your free hosted blogs?
 

Do you update your free hosted blogs or just build, leave and focus on your own domains? Or do you update both?

I set them to update once a day for as many days as I can handle at one time. Usually around 3 months. Then, they are forgotten about until I see them climbing up in my referrer stats. I still leave them sit at that point and they still generate traffic.

3 months worth of posts in one day!?!?!?!?! How in the hell do you manage that. I can barely do 20 on a saturday.

That's just on one free blog. Then I have my paid blogs, content writing services I offer, and any other money I can make doing whatever I can. I work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, and don't let myself procrastinate!

That's a tough question. For the content writing services I get what I ask for, so the return rate is what I expect. Same with some design services here and there.

Some blogs never seem to take off no matter what I do, so the return on them is obviously disappointing. Some blogs that I don't put much effort into at all take off and earn monthly payouts from various programs. Some do what I expect and I'm satisfied with the return for the work put in. It all seems to balance out in the end.

I also have tubes, link dumps, mainstream sites and other stuff thrown in the mix. I think it's important to cast your net as wide as you can so that the pain of tough times here and there is eased by better times at other places on your network.

I would eventually like to have my own pay sites and affiliate program. But, I can't find the time.

Well, if you are making enough to have a nice life, pay the bills and put some cash away then great work! I don't know if I could handle all that writing in one day though unless I had workers with me. I would have to make a solid $5-10k/month to do that. I'd have serious wrist problems from all that typing!

I've definitely been getting screwed with the Free hosts and directories tho. I notice that when my links mysteriously disappear from the directories then I get a penalty for it. I had some blogs that were making sales then when the owners removed them from some of the directories without notice I dropped big time. I'm going to me around today with them and update and clean them all up i think! :)

what can you afford?

I'm always trying to soak up new information about SEO practices and I'm not shy about asking for help because of my desire to learn. But, I completely understand how busy people can get and as I said before, take your time! If you get around to giving me a point in the right direction sometime in the future, that would be great!
