I'm going with Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Ferris Bueller would be runner-up. You?

Looking forward to this thread, I love 80's movies and want to see which ones I missed

kronic 08-14-2012 06:12 PM

Breakfast Club and St.Elmo's Fire are two that immediately come to mind, but there were a ton of good movies from the 80's.

Thanks, can you tell I'm a child of the 80's? And that's not including any of my Horror list. hehe:winkwink:

It's funny, they didn't have all the new special effects.. but they did have a plot damnit, and that's enough for me.

Brujah 08-14-2012 06:41 PM

big fan of the horror too, mostly 70s I think

brassmonkey 08-14-2012 06:45 PM

A Nightmare on Elm Street
My Bloody Valentine
christine
Cujo
Twilight Zone: The Movie

just to name a few

brassmonkey 08-14-2012 06:48 PM

Those two would be up there on my list. But I'd be lucky to narrow that list down to 10. The Goonies is my #1 favorite 80s movie.

Some others that I love, off the top of my head:

Empire Strikes Back
The Toxic Avenger
Revenge of the Nerds
Tron
Labyrinth
Weird Science
Sixteen Candles
Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Back to the Future

Spunky 08-14-2012 07:03 PM

The 80's were a blur for me,I liked Fast Times and Ghostbusters

ColBigBalls 08-14-2012 07:06 PM

Masters of the universe.

By far Dolf's best work.

Rochard 08-14-2012 07:09 PM

Top Gun. No movie has ever had a bigger impact on me - A few months later I joined the Marines.

Loved Top Gun...Tom Cruise may be kind of a whack job but I still think he's a great actor

NaughtyRob 08-14-2012 09:14 PM

Caddyshack with 48 Hrs coming in second (unless that was in the 70's)

Soooooo many great movies back then. That was back when Hollywood still had ideas.

Difficult to choose a favorite.

At least a few movies I don't remember seeing in here, will have to check some out.

geekyfox 08-15-2012 04:54 AM

Shining
Clockwork Orange
Once upon a time in America
Scarface

Do we only count American movies? If not, I would add Time Bandits

CaptainHowdy 08-15-2012 04:59 AM

Too many to mention ...

PR_Glen 08-15-2012 06:23 AM

80's are when action movies were in their prime. stallone, schwartzenegger, norris, van dam, segal, gibson, willis.. didn't miss those kinds of movies until they were gone. Expendables is pretty good though.
