Is PayPal Insane?
Got an email today from Paypal today, as I requested a second cash transfer, this week, from my bank account to the PayPal account, to cover purchasing more banner designs.
PayPal requested a verification of the account. WHAT? Had this PayPal account for over 5 years. They confirmed the bank account then. They also confirmed a credit card, so there could be unlimited withdrawals. Suddenly this account is unconfirmed?? Their email reply was just as strange, saying confirm the bank account. PAYPAL YOU SUCK! I thought eBay was bad. That's why we're creating a web site to sell all our collectibles locally. Not going to sell a $1000 item only to have eBay let the buyer claim they didn't get it, despite the buyer's signature. Maybe if sellers sue UPS for "non-delivery" UPS might sue eBay. I'd send a wire, except Bank Fucking America charges $40 just to send a wire. |
They did that to me too, they probly want to verify our info so if a buyer files a claim they can take the $ right out of your bank account. That's why I don't sell on ebay anymore either. You can add funds with a greendot moneypak..they cost $5 and you can add as much as you want to the card and enter the code on paypal. You can get them at most drugstores.
|
nevermind
|
You do know that ebay owns Paypal right? They both suck ass.
|
You're paying $40 for Bank of America to send a wire? I don't pay even half that much.
|
paypal sucks indeed..Cant believe there is no widespread alternative for non porn biz...
|
Haven't used Ebay in a while now because of the bullshit from them and Paypal...
|
You mention emails ... are you sure they weren't spoofs?
Usually if PayPal wants more info / verify something, they ask for it when one logs in. Not in email. |
Im thinking they must have been hit hard by fraud in the last month or so as they totally closed one of our accts last week because of the same reason, transferring *to much* money from our bank into Paypal and then sending it on to 3rd parties as payments of products / services.
They requested my ID which i gave them, asked me to confirm name, address, bank information, etc, etc... After spending the better part of 2 hours getting that info to them they closed the account with a little under $4000 in it (Just had payments come in from 3 design clients for deposits) saying we were not able to appeal their decision. Thankfully, these clients are ones we've had for a few years so we just called them and asked them to dispute the transactions and we were able to get them their funds back so they could make credit card / check payments instead. Now our account is closed, with funds 'on hold' for 180 days and in the negeative to the tune of around $4000 because they decided to hold oour funds that *we* sent from *our* bank account. Fuck PayPal. |
PayPal rapes me
The only reason I used PayPal, was to pay for some banners I needed and since the banner artist is not in the USA, was the easiest way to pay.
I've done business with this artist before, so I knew I wasn't going to get fucked. As for the $40 wire, it was too much, but I have closed most of my BOA accounts for a new bank, that unfortunately doesn't do wires and I needed a wire that day. BOA charges $125 for a safety deposit box. My new bank $25. Unless BOA knows you as a big player they fuck you on fees. Will say this about BOA, of dealing with 4 banks, they are the best for the way they handle your checking account, online banking and online bill pay. Too bad, I can no longer buy foreign currency here, to give my son, a present, when he does world traveling. |
They always sucked, I've gone through some of their BS a while ago and decided to never use it again.

I'd like to suggest you consider getting a free Paxum account to purchase your banner designs, and also for other payments you may wish to send and/or receive. A large portion of the adult entertainment industry already uses Paxum for payments, including many good quality banner designers, traffic sellers, domain hosts, etc. Hundreds of adult sponsor programs also send their affiliate/performer payments instantly through our service. I'm confident you will find a Paxum account useful for your business, and for your personal needs. You mention in a later post in this thread that you would like to be able to send money to your son for him to access worldwide; Paxum can definitely help you with this. Every verified Paxum account holder has the option to request a Paxum Mastercard which can be used to withdraw their Paxum funds at any ATM that accepts Mastercard, or at any online/offline location for purchases. With Paxum you could send your son money that he would receive instantly and be able to withdraw from any ATM worldwide immediately after receiving it from you. FYI - There is never a cost to receive money via P2P (peer-to-peer) with Paxum. With regards to your business, you may find adding Paxum to be of benefit with that as well; we have Pay Now Buttons that can be connected to via API/IPN for instant delivery of digital goods, or to connect to your own internal database for confirming payment before shipping goods. I'd be happy to discuss Paxum further with you and answer any questions you may have. I think Paxum could definitely assist you. My contact information is in my sig, please feel free to connect with me, or let me know the best time/way to connect with you to discuss things further if you are interested. Good luck and all the best, Ruth Blair :) [email protected] |
Paxum
But if the banner designer doesn't have Paxum, I'm screwed. Have to go with what they want.
I just got an email from PayPal saying it was a scam email. Odd it happened minutes after a transfer from my bank account to PayPal. |
I know eBay owns PayPal
That's why to sell off our huge stash of collectibles, it will be on a web site I created. Local buyers only, who pay cash, after they're satisfied as to the item being sold. Out of towners, send cash, by registered mail, or wait a month or so, to verify your money order might be real.
Even got to look at the cash. A couple of idiots here are passing $100's, but the watermark has Abe (a $5). |
:Oh crap :Oh crap
|
Only really stupid people use paypal they have fucked me out of thousands, I rather stick with paxum and payoneer ! seriously
|
paypal sucks :warning
|
Paypal would never send an email like that, always check the url in the email and look at the root domain. Also, why do you have to send cash from your bank into your paypal account? If you have a verified cc or a verified banking account attached to a verified paypal account then you can send cash instantly. I've had a paypal account since the day it opened and I've never had to deposit funds in order to send a paypal payment.

Phishing?

The fees that paypal and ebay charge are stupid

Paypal is the safest bet...
|
Did they address you in the email by your 'real name' or as 'Dear Paypal Customer' ?
|
If you do more than about $5k a year though them then you always had to verify the account with ID.
|
They steal from me I steal from them.
|
Paypal are okay.. you can moan about them all you like but at the end of the day they are the biggest and most established.
I would be more concerned about giving my CC details to smaller outfits.. |
I dont use paypal. They dont allow adult transactions and can freeze your entire bank account.
Fuck em with a fork. Sabby:) |
PayPal
I had to use PayPal as that what my banner designer uses. Yeah PayPal sucks, but sometimes you have to use them.
I never respond to emails from banks, credit cards or PayPal, but log in and ask them directly. The PayPal account, as I said is over 5 years old and verified. It was verified with a credit card, that has a limit large enough to buy a house. The email was directed to the email address we use for the PayPal address and was sent right after funds were transferred to PayPal. I should have caught it sooner as they didn't know the user ID. I have a specific bank account for PayPal, it only has a few dollars on deposit. When I need to pay someone through PayPal, I fund the account just enough to pay the vendor. I didn't fall for their scam, just logged in and asked PayPal. Usually you can spot the scam emails. This one looked too real. Suppose I could do the "take my money instantly & pay" method, but I guess I'm old school and just send the money from the bank to fund PayPal. This also acts as a last minute check of "do I really want to buy this?" |
I'm surprised to read all the backlash. I think Paypal is excellent.
They allow you to send and receive funds. They provide several website integration tools. The reports are detailed (slow but detailed), they have good merchant protection and outstanding customer support. If you received a request for updated information what you should do first is close any existing browsers, open a new one and go to Paypal. Follow the steps to talk to an actual live Paypal person and make sure you're not being phished. If it turns out to be Paypal, whats the harm in complying with their information verification? They are doing you a favour by doing this. By the way a good alternative to Paypal is Google Checkout / Wallet. |
Amazing ... I've been using PayPal for around 15 years and only had one (1) minor problem with a Canadian order from the U. S. that finally, and easily, got corrected in my favor. Never ever had another problem with them and I do a lot of business with them on a DAILY basis. I do not use them for porn in any way ... only MAINSTREAM for coins, books, collectibles, etc. HAVE done 1000's and 1000's of transactions with them over the last 15+/- years and I LOVE THEM TO PIECES. Usually get paid in 2 (3max) days from money request from my account to my bank. And, have sent 1000's of dollars to people on purchases and/or refunds throughout the years with no problem. It always puzzles me when I see people on here having problems with them ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Happy in Michigan with PayPal.)

with the paxum mastercard you can simply request an invoice from your designer. You can then use your mastercard to pay the invoice ( you click pay as guest ) Regards Chris |
wait until you get fucked, then you will hate paypal. I sold a diamond ring, guys pays with paypal, I know something is up the way he acts. He wants to return it so he does. I open the package at the UPS store with the owner there and on camera. Of course not the same ring. 4 months later a charge back for 4000 dollars. Paypal asks me for my side. I sent them all the emails where he was trying to get something for nothing. The fucking video of him returning a different ring that didn't even have a diamond, paypal sides with him since he did the charge back through Visa and not paypal. The lady said she knows I am right but nothing she can do. Now paypal wants me to pay them 4000 LOL. This is after 250K in sales from the last year. It is not like I just sold one diamond. So yeah if you want something free just buy it and return nothing, paypal will not go after the guy.

I got affiliate payment via paypal and they froze my account and the money is on hold for 6 months. This happened earlier in 2012. so FYI paypal still does not want to do business with adult sites. Use paypal at your own risk.

If they want you to verify again, it's either fake OR one of the cards expired... either of those can happen |

Definitely always gotta double check and make sure an email from "paypal" isn't a spoof email just trying to get your account info.
I haven't had any problems with paypal and been using them for a few years, and hopefully it continues that way. |
PayPal
If you read carefully, I didn't fall for the email, as I contacted PayPal directly, to verify the problem. Only reason I even bothered, this one looked more legit than the usual. And I've worked in the anti-fraud accounting dept. of several major corporations.
I would consider Paxum, but if the designer only takes PayPal, then I have to go there. Yeah PayPal sucks so bad, I'm creating a web site of only local buyers, cash only to sell off our collectibles. Out of town buyers, you'll have to wait 4-6 weeks to verify your payment is real. By the way, we have a HUGE collection of Coca-Cola items. |
Make sure the seller upgrades his Paypal account to a business account or a premier account, then he can accept payments from non-paypal users, you just need a credit or debit card from VISA, Mastercard, AMEX or the Discover network. He then creates an invoice from within his paypal account, send the invoice to your email you click the link and pay as a "Paypal guest". All you have to do is fill out a normal "bill my card" form and then the payment is processed by Paypal.
