Alternative to google adsense? Any good ones around for mainstream that you can recommend?

Chikita is the only one that I know of. It's not as great as adsense, but I guess if you're banned or something...

I didn't think I had to be approved when I started, though. I just set up an account with a $300 credit promo and I set up some ads right away.

Depending on traffic volume and user geo using cpm might be an option. Contextweb.com lets you set your asking price and minimum cpm you will accept. I use it alongside adsense and lijit on my general sites with a not so clickhappy crowd. Picture heavy sites also do well with gumgum and taggify.

Hm. Did you mean being approved for placing the ads on your own sites to make money? Because if so, I have no idea.. :upsidedow
