You'd think webmasters would realize that posting photos from Facebook is retarded.

99% of the time, they're not public and nothing shows up when you post them here.

But then again, you're not a webmaster. You're the epitome of scumbag affiliate reps.

When I was a kid we were sent to school with a notebook and pencils, that's it. My kid's school... Don't get me wrong, I support my kid's school, but they asked for four reams of paper - I thought that was a bitch much.

LOL. The high school I went to had a full culinary program, including a restaurant open to the public for lunch...

We had Home Economics, that was it.... nothing fancy in this redneck place. lol

I homeschool my youngest now, but the last time I had to go and buy her school supplies, it was completely ridiculous. They had to bring 6 boxes of Kleenex, Germex, reams of paper, god knows how many notebooks, like 30 pencils and the list goes on. It was costing me about $100 or so for just supplies alone. And this was for a 6th grader. lol

why do you choose to home-school?

not a loaded question, I just want to know what makes people think it is a good idea, because I do not!

again, not saying it is wrong, not saying I am right, I just have different thoughts on it, and would like to know from someone who home-schools their kids what drove them to do it.

The school system in our area is really bad, and I don't mean your typical really bad, I mean REALLY bad. They rank some of the lowest in the country and they worry more about status than they do education.

Before this decision was made, I was right there with you, I didn't much think it was a good idea either. But for many reasons, it was best for her. She had a couple of girls bullying her really bad and I can take a bit of that, but when the one got her dad involved and HE was making nasty calls on my then 12 year olds cell phone, it crossed a line... if that wasn't bad enough, he went to school and filed a restraining order on MY daughter... I took her phone to them and showed them what was going on, they didn't care, they carried thru with their restraining order. The next few weeks got harder and harder on her and I got sick of it and yanked her out.

But, the things I worried most about aren't an issue here. She is extremely social.. she tests higher than anyone in her current class/age group and she is extremely talented. She is learning about what she SHOULD now and not about how to be bullied , disregarded, and so on because she isn't one of the ones in their cliques.

But, yes, until this happened, I didn't think it was a good idea either. My oldest 3 begged me to let them home school and I wasn't having it, but in this case, I did. And it was the best thing for her. Her entire personality has changed and she is learning things that will help her moving forward in her life.

thanks for the explanation, that's quite a different scenario from what I don't understand, which is why people choose to home-school from day 1. I just find the lack of social interaction to be a big issue.
