I'd say yes, sure it gives a temporary boost by moving traffic from the subdomain to the main domain. But it's like pouring beer from one cup to another, you won't get more beer from it and if you do this a lot you risk spilling the beer (or in your case, Google punishing you).

To be honest, I think you need to focus on the basics of SEO and fuck all the advanced attempts to manipulate google - OR talk to an expert on that and be prepared to loose everything over night when google finds out.
Build a good website that people bookmarks, comes back to, shares with their friends, spends time on. Bookmarks, repeat visitors, social shares, low bounce rate and time on site. Those things count. More than spamming keywords with html pages imho. But I'm no expert.
