Point In Buying Russian Traffic for US Retailer?
 

Having a back and forth with the SEO guy at one of the companies I ghost-blog for. He's bought a shitload of Russian & Ukrainian traffic for the site. The web site is for a US-based retailer who doesn't ship outside North America.

Given that I'm really just a writer and don't really know a whole lot about traffic, is there any positive point in doing this? Does it help rankings, since this traffic doesn't convert into sales?

Increase stats and alexa ranking prior to a sale?

That's one of the reasons. Russia and Ukraine is a massive traffic volume which can be purchased at the lower prices.

Or simply for the purpose of selling ads.
