Bank account question

Okay so I noticed I had some weird $8.96 charge pending with my debit card that was credited back immediately but I haven't used my debit card the past few days...it struck me as odd. Then about 30 minutes later I had another debit charge that was $245 from some bodybuilding site that was also credited back immediately. Once I saw that I immediately called up my bank and had my debit card canceled.

Just wondering if anyone here has ever dealt with fraud on their bank account or whatever? I have no idea what those charges were and why they were debited and then credited back immediately. My bank said that either it was an error or someone compromised my card.

Either way I'm glad I got that shit canceled, it seemed like someone was about to mediarevenue me in the ass.

Your info was compromised. They were testing your card.

On my card they did 2 small test transactions and then they started pounding it.

The 2 small test trans never cleared.

Thanks for that info! Yeah both transactions were credited back right away but it made me think that someone was testing it out.

I will never have a debit card. Having a card pull money out of your account is crazy. I use a charge card. I someone charges something I didn't authorize I still have my cash.

I know your going to say, you still have protection with a debit card but I know If you get scammed with a debit card your cash is gone until the bank checks it out.

Yeah I'm going to be switching to using my credit card for online purchases because you're right...I would've been out of that money until I had straightened it out with my bank.

Bank of America gave me all my money back the same day. :winkwink:

But they took it back 2 times because Ticketmaster disputed it. In the end I won.

A good technique I use is to move money to debit cards just prior to using them.
Rest of the time they have no balance. I'd like to see thieves coordinate around that.
