American's God given rights.

This is what he said.

Quote:

He slammed Obama for not understanding the fundamental nature of our country. He quoted Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence that our rights are God-given, not government-given.

The President justifies taking more of what people earn by saying:?look it?s also our system of government that makes things possible for entrepreneurs and innovators and that?s true, but let?s stop and think about the government and what it tells us in its founding document, the Declaration of Independence. It does not say that the government gave us our rights; it said that God gave us our rights?they come with us, not with government. It said that among our rights given to us by God, by our creator, were life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our capacity to build and lift ourselves and reach for the stars is not thanks to a government that says ?fine.? It is instead thanks to a God who loves us and gives us those rights and those opportunities.
Did God give American's the right to commit genocide on the Indians and to use slaves to create wealth?

The only place in Euro where anyone could say that is the Vatican. When a Mormon tells me, who wants to lead the most powerful nation on earth. I get worried. Americans applause and this wasn't in some Bible Belt State!!!! :disgust

Why would an old perverted ignorant cockney whose origin is from England and probably will die from cancer in the next year or two be worried about anything that Mitt Romney has to say or does?

lagcam 09-09-2012 04:09 AM

I guess he has finished his jigsaw, is bored and looking to stir up shit between supporters and opponents in a last ditch attempt to retain his "trophy"....

Similarly, though I have often wondered why Mark Prince starts so many political threads..... or am I wrong about him being a Canadian living in Canada?

DWB 09-09-2012 04:16 AM

Always get a chuckle out of "God given rights." Apparently, those rights were only intended for wealthy white men, but God must have had a word with whitey because they later extended those rights to blacks and women. Sooner or later God will have another word with whitey and explain to them that those rights are for everyone, all around the world.

That said, I think Santa Clause would give us better rights. At least he would give us gifts.

Yes I while they were blabbering on about the given rights, it seemed they only applied to a the chosen ones.

ei European immigrants. Go figure.

candyflip 09-09-2012 04:24 AM

How can you have "God given rights" without proof that any sort of "god" exists?

Something I've never understood.

DWB 09-09-2012 04:34 AM

I think bareback sex with ANYONE you choose (at any time) should be a God given right. Screw him for not giving us that one. Curse you old man in the sky!

I think he did give that to some people DWB..... serial rapists.

Barry-xlovecam 09-09-2012 07:12 AM

No, most of us came from Europe with munitions and horses in the beginning.

America was colonized by the English, French and Spanish.

They just behaved like they did in Europe ...

World History 101

How did the Aborigine people make out in Australia another English colony of the time?

I'm pretty sure nowhere in the Declaration of Independence does it saw god, it says "that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" last I checked my parents created me, so they would be my creator.

What ever the Declaration says, don't you guys think this guy is either the biggest bullshitter ever or scary with his belief in this mythical being.

Then there's the question of all the Americans who don't scratch their heads and think "What is this fucking guy standing for, leader of a powerful 21 century nation or priesthood?"

Then there's the question of "Are they relying on this mythical being to help them out?" I'm actually serious on that.

The Pope blessed the Spanish Conquistadors and sent Monks to convert their new Indian slaves in Latin America -- give it a rest -- we all have baggage ...

The Bible thumpers and fundamental religionists are still causing problems world wide.

All very good what the plebeians believe in. Now we have a man who wants to be the leader of the most powerful and best military equipped nation on earth who apparently live his life by the dictates of one Joseph Smith and the fairy stories he put out.

Mitt could be a good old Baptist or something mild.

Quote:

In the spring of 1820, a 14-year-old boy named Joseph Smith went into a grove of trees near his home in Palmyra, New York, and prayed to learn which church he should join. In answer to his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to him, just as heavenly beings had appeared to prophets like Moses and Paul in biblical times. Joseph learned that the Church originally organized by Jesus Christ was no longer on the earth.

Joseph Smith was chosen by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. During the next 10 years, Joseph was visited by other heavenly messengers, translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God, and received divine authority to organize the Church. The Church was organized in Fayette, New York, on 6 April 1830, under the leadership of Joseph Smith. It has grown to an organization with members and congregations throughout the world.

Look at the trouble spots and see what's behind some. I will start a list.

Iran
Afghanistan
Israel
Pakistan.
Syria

Once you get someone with awesome power at his finger tips and he believes in something that's above reason. There's a chance of problems.

Do Mormon's want more control, influence and money?
Do they think porn is good?
What do they think is bad?

Quote:

Political Neutrality
Although we believe in taking a stand on moral issues, as a Church we remain neutral in matters of party politics. Church leaders don?t dictate which candidate Mormons should vote for even if a candidate doesn?t agree with a publicly stated Church position. Neither does it dictate policy to elected officials who are Mormon. The Church may communicate its views to them just as it would to any other elected official, but it recognizes that these men and women must make their own choices based on their best judgment and with consideration of the constituencies they were elected to represent. Mormons align themselves with whatever political party they believe best represents their individual views.
Are those choices influenced by the church?

I was being sarcastic about the gays because of the ignorant Christians who say "god hates fags." But if he/she does exist, he/she clearly has no love for much of Africa. That much is a fact.

Read the bible. If it's true their god hated a lot of people enough to have them killed, even the babies and animals. According to the bible god finds hate pretty easy.

What makes you think that?

The Bible is supposed to be the words of a guy that many do not believe in. It is not supposed to be a political tool. In fact, that goes against everything this country was built on.

I respond with "pigshit" when someone posts something that is a blatant spin...is ridiculous or is ignorant of the subject matter. I do not have the inclination to attempt to educate the ignorant or have a debate with a liar or with someone that posts the ridiculous...and this includes you...sport.

Seriously, if you stopped reading at the Old Testament you should consider turning the page. It is not Christianity if it was before Jesus was even born.

Sorry, I did not know this conversation was based on Mormonism. I'd venture to say that most Christian religions do not really consider Mormons to be Christian.

So, your comments are a rally against the standard form of capital punishment 3,000 years ago? Or is this something against Jews?
