Google is all about the WTF? now. I think they've made the entire enterprise useless just for shits and giggles.

But honestly? I don't even know what you're referring too...

they've selecting for their testing sample - usually about 1-3% of users

Currently, in different browsers I get either the current search interface or one that has the left column moved to the top or a version of it but with drop-down menus

Organic results from external sites are slowly but surely being displaced by "this is what we think you want to know in concise form" information. With G also showing multiple organic results from the same site it is possible for some searches to only show results from a single external site above the fold. I've noticed recently that there seems to be more whitespace between the paid ad listings on top of the organic results, pushing the latter further down. On my screen (which I think is one or two steps higher than the average res these days) I can only see 4 organic results for some searches.

A search engine pointing at a bunch of sites you have to click through to is so 2000s...
