Books are fantastic, very fun reading. Be prepared though - story lines between the books and the show are starting to diverge. (books don't dumb things down for tv audience and add stupid romantic subplots to appeal to a demographic)

I have the first 4? I think it is. The one where it splits to tell the story of Arya and what ever the Bran etc.

I wanted to read the books before watching.

I am like five chapters through the first book and am having a really difficult time moving forward. I don't really like the short story format. Is it like that throughout the whole series?

The books are pretty graphic, a lot of stuff I don't expect even HBO to do.

Hopefully the show doesn't deviate 2 much more from the books. Anyhow, I'm loving them both!

I truly hate that Robb, his wife and his mother had to go but I hope that Joffrey's ending is just as surprising and well given.

I started reading the first book about 2 weeks ago and am now on the second book. Excellent books, and now I'm going to have to buy the first two seasons on DVD when they come out!

Episode 9 (red wedding) should have been the finale..

I have a feeling they labored over the choice of when to show the wedding scene, and ultimately deciding to do it before the finale. Imagine the downer it would have been if the last thing viewers see is Caetlyn Stark getting her throat slit.

It was smarter to end the season on a semi-positive note instead.
