Pretty new to WordPress.
Learning the ropes as I go...
Where is the best place for free/cheap themes and plugins?
Any tip or newbie tutorial sites you guys can link me would also be great.

themeforest.net is what I typically use. pretty cheap from $40 or so

i had a buddy sit me down and show me the ropes for a few hours, i picked the rest up fairly easily, just had to get the basics down with someone IN front of me ;)

youtube has a lot of video tutorials

I havent done any wp stuff with real estate, but i wrote a script for someone to track listings price changes, they would add a property say when it went on the market, and each day it would check the price, and graph out the timeline of change, also could grab properties by region and do the same.

You need to get an IDX feed to do this then it's really simple to setup a site, take about two minutes and some really great themes that work with various providers.

Shit ya I need to do something with my real estate/property sites. Have some feeds but I know people with mls access.

Thesis is one of the best themes, it allows some pretty intense customizations. Have a look.

...and be prepared to get hidden shit in your code.

Only get from trusted sources that have built a strong reputation and listed in the codex or buy a theme builder that's highly recommended and listed in the wordpress codex,

I'll give you a premium theme for educational reasons.

The theme is a great starter and also has a ton of advance features.

Yeah, never ever use "free themes", they are free for a reason like iwantchixx pointed out. Stick with buying your themes. It's only $25-150 at the most per theme :)

not totally true, some are clean.

You would know since you are the wp ninja and i'm sure not all developers are shady but there are a big chunk of them who have ulterior motives when they release free themes
