Million Dollar Ideas?

Ever come up with an idea you think would make a million dollars even though you don't have the infrastructure, connections or time needed to develop it?

An example of one I had recently is celebrity voice-over for GPS systems. I'm sure eventually you'll have Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood, Samuel L. Jackson and Henry Rollins available as options on your GPS to give you driving directions. Bundled as a selling point of a particular service platform, or available as downloadable upsells, someone will make bank with it. Simple enough and easy to execute, though you'd have to have the contacts in that industry to make it happen.

Anyone else have ideas worth sharing for things they won't be able to develop on their own?
It's Friday and I'm seeing what kind of inspiration is out there...

I filled a book with over 200 ideas when I was a kid, now ever single one in there is a product being sold...

It would only cost about 100 million dollars to get all of those celebrities to say every street name in America. After that it would be all profit.

DamageX 09-28-2012 01:19 PM

About 20/day. At least.

Do you really think for Garmin, they had a lady sit down, and record every street name in the world?

They do have computers to synthesize voices now. All you need is a baseline.

halfpint 09-28-2012 01:21 PM

Mine was to start a painting contractor firm and go to all the big supermarkets and paint thier names on the roofs so you can fucking see exactly where they are in google maps ...oh and plus it serves as advertising for all the google map peeps

U could make sure that the paint only lasted for say 4 years then you could recharge them for a touch up

I just need $20,000 USD to set up the hot girl in my building with her own cam site and with the amount of twitter and fb followers she has I am sure the site would make a lot maybe millions.

It would an awful lot less. Being in millions of cars every day would raise their Q rating tremendously and the amount of words needed is a lot smaller than you would think. Street names are repeated very often from one community to the next. You have no idea how many elm streets, main streets and Martin Luther King Blvds there are across the nation. They could also easily cut the vocabulary by having celebs provide bumper comments like 'turn left 200 yards up ahead' and using the same digital voice for obscure street names. Most of it can be digitized from syllables these days. cost would be tiny.. especially when you get down to lesser celebrities or celebrities looking to rebound their careers.... and revshare for voice actors per sale of their voice would probably keep costs down as well. :2 cents:

And your idea is... ?

Not a terrible idea by why limit it to big box stores. Many would probably sell their roof rights to an advertiser. For example, putting State Farm ads on the roof of hundreds of thousands of businesses and homes... having them show up all over google maps ;)

Pointing cameras at naked girls.

Whoops. Too late with that one. LOL

ottopottomouse 09-28-2012 02:29 PM

Markham seems to have logged into your account and is posting brand new several years old ideas again.

ottopottomouse 09-28-2012 02:32 PM

the actual phrase database in my satnav is quite small. it is just parts of words and numbers that are built into a statement when it needs to speak.

Just get the celeb to give permission, if it's needed, for someone else to impersonate them.

This is a piece of advice from my entrepreneur friend. Keep trying, u will find an idea that will make u a million. When he looks back, some of the ideas he believed could make him a million never worked, but those he doesn't believe in it actually worked.

PornMD 09-28-2012 08:26 PM

Meh, I've forgotten more of my "million dollar ideas" than I can remember. I still have some in mind that I might pursue but I just don't have the patience for big projects.

Reminds me of the Osbourne episode where he gets a new Mercedes with voice commands and it cannot understand a damn thing he is saying.
