Should I register a DMCA agent?
Hey guys,
In the midst of building a project which is largely automated, and as such I don't have 100% control of everything plus I want to tie in some social things which I guess could contain copyright stuff. I don't really foresee any real issues however I've read that it's still wise to register an agent. Is this the case even when the content isn't user generated? Another thing is, I am not from the USA nor do I have a fax machine. Is there a service available where you can have someone else become a registered agent for you? Someone who's an "abuse agent" kind of thing for multiple websites. Might be easier for someone inside the USA to get registered for example, I am not sure... What's everyone else done? Cheers |
There are loads of snake oil selling fuck sticks that will gladly take 500 bucks a month from you to then let a computer send out automated DMCAs on your behalf.
Now, admitedly they will send out false positives and create a mass of bad publicity, and also, it will not have any impact in your sales. But if you want to flush a few hundred bucks away each month, go for it! Alternatively, if you spent that 500 on improving your site, optimising your sales funnel, creating good ads, or a winback email campaign you'd make a lot more money, but hey, it's your money! |
No no I mean a registered abuse agent with the copyright office so people can contact us.
