server module question...how to increase playback of this video promo

Greetings friends, quick questions for the server gurus...

Is there a component that can be downloaded and installed on a godaddy server that will increase playback compatibility for the following video?

The problem with the video play back seems to be present especially with mobile phones, and several different desk top pc configurations.

Already called godaddy to ask them and they said there is definitely something out there that can be added to the server to make the video more universally playable but hey said they could not give any advice or tips.

please let me know what simple steps can be taken to increase playback of this video promo...

Thanks in advance:)

thanks sandman great advice...may have to look into getting a managed host at some point in the future but for now I am just wondering what is this play back module that can be installed to increase playback compatibility by server side install.

It's not my forte and after speaking with godaddy.com it does not seem to be there forte either.

Was hoping some one here could point me in the right direction.

The video plays on most desk top computers after downloading some plug ins but it does not seem to play for android and i phones and we seek to remedy that if any one has any tips.

First question was a little confusing - I'm guessing by playback compatibility you mean as many of your website visitors as possible will be able to watch the video?

Yes shake that is all we are looking to improve.

for example I was at a friends house and they had 2 lap tops a pc and a mac

they had a tablet, a droid phone and an iphone and a regular desk top pc

so the play back did fine with the lap tops, and the tablet, and the desk top pc(once we downloaded quick time components)

but for some reason on the smart phones droid and iphone did video file would not play

I called godaddy for them and was told by them that they would have to find some module to install that could help increase compatibility so that more would be able to see it without doing a lot of downloading of plugins.

So I figured I would come here and open a gfy support ticket...LOL

So is there any things that can be uplaoded/or installed on the server(godaddy) to make the video file more compatible with different devices or iphones?

thanks again:)

Not sure that droid phones can play .mov files. Have you tried using the .mp4 format instead?

No i have not, but I was wondering if that would help. I could help them convert that file now I suppose.

DO you think the mp4 format would be more compatible with smart phones and would still play on a lap top or desk top pc?

thanks for your help!
