Riddle
Who can solve this one... :)
I know a guy, he lives on the 8'th floor of an apartment building. When he goes to work in the morning, he uses the elevator down to the first floor. Then he walks to his car and drives to work. When he comes back from work, he enters the elevator again to get back to his apartment. Now, the case is, if it's raining outside, he can use the elevator all the way up to the 8'th floor. But when it's dry outside, he can only take the elevator to the 3'th floor. Then he will need to walk the rest of the way up.... Why is this the case? If you know the solution, please wait a while so others can go figure... :glugglug :drinkup

|
Umm............

The guy isn't the sharpest knife in the box. Why doesn't he take a fucking stick with him every day? :1orglaugh :glugglug |
give us the answer

Worst riddle EVER
|
Of course there are flaws in the riddle.. like I'm sure minime could sit there and wait for someone on a sunny day to come along and push the button for him. :Graucho
|
I'd sue the people who built the building for not providing proper disability services.
Poor midgets. |
Sheeesh....
To think I refreshed the page 5 times for that... |
Hot mamma... This didn't last long.
Sure thing, the guy is a midget, he cant reach the 8'th floor button in the elevator without his umbrella he has with him when it's raining. Otherwise when it's dry outside, he dont have his umbrella with him, and thus he can only reach the 3'th level button. I wonder if he jumps or not, that's a new riddle! I'll go figure a riddle no-one knows... hehe Worst riddle ever???? NO SURLY NOT, IT WAS COOL! |

How do you know the midget carries an umbrella?

fucking worst riddle, he could take his umbrella everyday if he was intelligent :321GFY |

Why carry an umbrella when it's sunny outside? Fuck, people would think he's not only underdimensioned, but also retarded on top of that. |
Ok fuck it, answer this one.
How come 2 times 2 equals 4, when also 2 plus 2 equals 4. Well, I don't know... :helpme |
Heres another one:
This guy is heading into the city with a wolf, a chicken & a box of cornmeal. He comes to this little river that he has to cross in a one person kayak... he could only take himself and one other item across. He could not leave the wolf alone with the chicken, or the chicken alone with the cornmeal. How did the guy get everyone and everything across safely? |
Heh. I like that kind of riddle. Its such a simple thing to make it work...

Although, on the otherhand.. I HATE riddles I can't figure out. They make me angry until I get it. :) |
Meal first over,
Then empty back, Then Wolf over, Then empty back, Then chicken over :( |
Quote:
What if the wolf is up for some corn? |
Wolfs eat meat, not corn. otherwise this wolf is quite stupid.
:) |
Quote:
...hypothetically. I'd let the chicken eat the corn, let the wolf eat the chicken and then make myself a nice lil' BBQ a la wolf. Gotta optimize your food intake, ya know. |
he uses the umbrella to push button 8

Ok guys.. Eat this:
A constructor got the job to connect 3 houses with electricity, water, and heat. He can only feed the houses with pipes. Any of the feeds CANNOT cross eachother. Make a drawing and figure how to connect the 3 houses with the 3 feeds without the lines crossing in any way. Can this make you figure?

|
Remember all houses must have heat, electricity, and water. But any pipes cannot cross eachother...

Concentrate on the last riddle I just wrote... Figure |

Riddles are lame when you got google. :Graucho
|
Hmmm... Perhaps I didnt state it right.
The pipes cannot be redirected from the houses. They will need to be pulled from the source itself :-)) otherwise, cool google plot! :) |
This makes it a whole new riddle... hehe.. Hard one actually.

The problem you describe is to draw a bipartite graph of 3 nodes connected in all ways to 3 nodes, all embedded in the plane. The graph is called K3,3. A famous theorem of Kuratowsky says that all graphs can be embedded in the plane, EXCEPT those containing a subgraph that is topologically equivalent to K3,3 or K5 (the complete graph on 5 vertices, i.e., the graph with 5 nodes and 10 edges). So your problem is a minimal example of a graph that cannot be embedded in the plane. The proofs that K5 and K3,3 are non-planar are really quite easy, and only depend on Euler's Theorem that F-E+V=2 for a planar graph. For K3,3 V is 6 and E is 9, so F would have to be 5. But each face has at least 4 edges, so E >= (F*4)/2 = 10, contradiction. For K5 V is 5 and E is 10, so F = 7. In this case each face has at least 3 edges, so E >= (F*3)/2 = 10.5, contradiction. The difficult part of Kuratowsky is the proof in the other direction! A quick, informal proof by contradiction without assuming Euler's Theorem: Using a map in which the houses are 1, 2, and 3 and the utilities are A, B, and C, there must be continuous lines that connect the buildings and divide the area into three sections bounded by the loops A-1-B-2-A, A-1-B-3-A, and A-2-B-3-A. (One of the areas is the infinite plane *around* whichever loop is the outer edge of the network.) C must be in one of these three areas; whichever area it is in, either 1, or 2, or 3, is *not* part of the loop that rings its area and hence is inaccessible to C. The usual quibble is to solve the puzzle by running one of the pipes underneath one of houses on its way to another house; the puzzle's instructions forbid crossing other *pipes*, but not crossing other *houses*. |
