Wow, the superrich buying the president to get their way? Now thats news!

Sly 10-13-2012 10:54 AM

I don't read the Rolling Stone. I have seen a few snippets here and there.

Is it just an editorial magazine? I saw an article the other day that was referring to Paul Ryan is a sniveling weasel. Sniveling weasel or not, that's hardly "news", that's opinion.

Yeah...that's never happened before!

Oh wait...Obama is bought by his special interests, Bush was bought by his special interests, Clinton was bought by his special interests, and so on going back to the beginning.

NewsFlash: NONE of the big companies contributing to Obama or Romney are giving those millions out of the goodness of their hearts.
Goddamn people can be naive and downright stupid when they blindly follow one candidate without question.

I watched a documentary on Coca Cola a few years ago... the CEO from the 40's-50's was being interviewed.... his comment: "...we wanted Ike to get some war experience, then the only question was did we want him to be a Republican or Democratic president.."

that statement really opened my eyes ;)

Bill Marriott is actually socially liberal.

If someone like him ran I would vote for him in a minute.

I thought Steven Rales would be "that guy" and work his way up the political ladder but then his family fell apart and weird stuff started happening.

my god, anybody who pays their taxes should be disgusted if even half of this is true - and not only disgusted by Romney, disgusted at the idiots at the IRS who let him get away with it and the government who allow themselves to be outfoxed over and over. the tax avoidance/evasion schemes are brilliant.

I think we should be more disgusted with the US govt.
Spending 10.6 BILLION dollars a day.

They spend more than Mitt Romney's entire net wealth in about 29 minutes.

It's HIS money. Not the govt.'s
But Washington, D.C. doesn't see any or our money as belonging to us. They think that all of your money is theirs.

I'm kinda shocked that so many people are suddenly pro-IRS. For my whole lifetime, taxes and the IRS were generally hated.

I guess the govt. has people conditioned now to take even more money from us...and LIKE it. lol

I think people spend too much time looking at the other person.

They look at a billionaire and might think "wow, they got out of this and this." I look at my tax returns and all I think is "man I got screwed again." Hating the billionaire isn't going to get me any more money.

I care about my wallet way more than any other persons wallet.

what kind of Libertarian fairyland are you living in?

taxes are a fact of life in every real country on this planet. i agree we're overtaxed - as long as we are EVERYBODY should take it up the ass equally. why i favor the flat tax and a tax code that is one page long.

I agree...and not only that, but I take every possible tax deduction I can.

So would every person screaming about Romney.

And you better believe that the billionaires like Warren Buffet who SAY they want to taxed more...he takes EVERY tax deduction he can get.
You'd think if he was so concerned about it he would just voluntarily pay more taxes. lol

Nobody wants to pay more taxes. This is all just political bullshit.

Robbie 10-13-2012 12:28 PM

Now that I think about it...

Why didn't Obama do something about the evil billionaires and millionaires (Romney) getting all these tax breaks?

He's been president for almost 4 years. And he did...nothing.
Just like everything else he is suddenly so concerned with.

Gee, he had unprecedented popularity and a Democratic controlled House and Senate when he took office....what happened?

Oh, that's right, I already answered this. It's political bullshit for him to get re-elected for another 4 years of nothingness.

Nah, this is the part where somebody cries about Mitch McConnell and John Boener (sp?) and how Obama didn't really have any real power.

Obama (and most Presidents) is like God. Credited when something great happens, excused when something bad happens.

I agree with you on a flat tax and/or a national sales tax.

And I also think that the govt. spending 10.6 BILLION dollars PER DAY is outrageous.

As I said, they spend Mitt Romney's entire net worth in 29 minutes. They spend Warren Buffet's entire net worth in 4 days.

That is the "Libertarian fairyland" I live in. :)

I do think that career politicians in Congress have the most power.

And I think that his Democratic and Republican people in Congress told the former Jr. Senator from Illinois to sit down and shut the fuck up when he became President.

And he did as he was told. :(

I watched a documentary about coke cola where they hired hit men to kill union leaders at their plants in Colombia. Technically it was their bottling contractor and they hired paramilitary guys to harass union guys & kill the leaders. Coke turned blind eye to it and let it continue.

And ther are no billionaires behind Obama. Except these people http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/78797.html and no mention of his handlers George Soros and Warren Buffet

Rochard 10-13-2012 07:30 PM

Yeah, but you can most likely say the same thing about Obama too. I'm sure Obama has some big money rolling in.

How the billionaires thought Romney was a credible candidate, I'll never know.

Does he not scream "idiot" to them, the way he does to everyone else? Or is that the point?

I know Bush was an idiot too, but at least he was decisive. Romney just looks vacant.
