I shot some photos of the Space Shuttle...

...on the streets of LA yesterday. Mostly shot on Crenshaw Blvd., though the last one was shot right outside the Baldwin Hills Mall at Crenshaw and MLK Blvd.

My friend works for JPL and I had dinner with him Friday night. We talked alot about the shuttle and the program. He is really sad to see this all go due to none funding.

He told me about these engines... These here are fake. Rebuilt shells made buy him and his small team for the shuttle to be on display. He said that when they were done, they painted all three lite grey and then another guy was hired later on to airbrush them so they looked like they were used in space. He said "the airbrush guy did an amazing job" lol

Just a lil insider info for you if you ever go and see the shuttle on display - You can retell the story and look like a boss :thumbsup

very cool, I love this NASA stuff...too bad we spend so much money fighting each other rather than exploring our world and beyond

No,,, they are real! I saw them on TV. This is all just conspiracy theories:winkwink:

alex.missyouth 10-15-2012 10:44 AM

It calls my attention how much time it takes NASA to develop/create an alternate form of getting into space.

LeRoy 10-15-2012 10:54 AM

A close look at this thing is amazing :)

Here's the fly by... and a couple pics taken from our office windows.

Great shots. My boyfriend took his kids to see it. The areas they picked were very well selected for inspiration.

I didnt get a chance this weekend to go see it but I used to see a lot of the challenger and have even seen it land at Edwards Air Force base back in the day. The last pic taken is pretty amazing. I can't wait til it's at the permanent home and the crowds have died down.

JP-pornshooter 10-15-2012 03:16 PM

Cool photos - I thought Nasa took them out of use ?

TheDA 10-16-2012 03:16 AM

It was a lot smaller than I thought. I remember seeing the Enterprise up close years ago. I was disappointed.

No, all I had to do was find a spot along the LAX runway that had some utility poles. After that, it was a piece of cake.
