You mean Mitt has nothing on foreign policy therefore his best option was to just agree. Then steer everything back to domestic policy which is what he thinks he can win on. This was a good strategy for him to take. It lets him take a free ride on the presidents foreign policy coattails while trying to work a knife into his domestic policy back.
Pretty transparent, but doesn't make it a bad debate strategy.
His mistake was his ridiculous comments about a non existent apology tour that has been a false talking point for years. Also his comment on the size of the navy which he should have known would be like walking into a buzz saw. He tried it before and the presidents team had a lot of time to be ready for it this time.
