does anyone worry about flying ?

not from the point of view of terrorism. I don't worry about that... just from the fear of flying itself ?

Personally I've done so much of it in my life and still feel a sense of "thank goodness" everytime a get out of the plane.

Doesn't make sense I know, just curious how many are frequent travellers and still feel uneasy with it ? :uhoh

I have exactly the same thing... no like... hardcore FEAR , but general nervousness every time. It's very silly really..

And I've flown about 3 or 4 times a year since i was 5 years old...

Flying is fucking fantastic... I've flown more kilometres than most people ever will and take-off still gives me a huge thrill... I don't just love flying but also airports and airline food... and I always fly economy!

Paul Markham 02-16-2003 05:29 AM

I hate flying, will only fly business class because at least you get some room that way. The food and service is a bit better.

But flying is :throwup

Been stuck in a cabin with some kid screaming and crying for five hours plus is my biggest flying fear. :BangBang:

The Craze 02-16-2003 05:32 AM

In the next 30 days I'll be crossing the atlantic 4 times and taking 8 planes altogether. I love to travel.

I fear flying like nothing else. I have often come close to panics attacks because I get these really ridiculous delusions like "The plane is not going fast enough to fly"

LOL

DarkJedi 02-16-2003 05:33 AM

flying ? no, i like it.

i'm a bit uneasy about sailing though :uhoh

I don't fear flying any more than any other form of transport.

I hate being a passenger.

Only when there is major turbulence.

On my last flight we flew through a lightning storm and the plane was shaking so hard you would have thought it was gonna break apart. I also had a window seat and got to look out at lightning flashing all around us. It wasn't the best flight I've ever taken, thats for sure.

I am a pretty good flyer but I am sure everyone thinks a bit about what if things went wrong. When I was a kid I saw Say Anything with John Cuzak and he has some line in that about most things that go wrong with a plane happen within the first few minutes of take off. So, even tho I am good flyer in my mind I am always counting out five minutes in my head and then usually by the end of the five minutes I have chilled out.

Pornwolf 02-16-2003 06:42 AM

I've done over a quarter million miles in the last year and a half. I love flying. No one ever dies from turbulance. It's like a big ol roller coaster! I love turbulance! I gotta admit, a choppy takeoff kinda messes with me sometimes cause that's where airplaane death comes from.

stocktrader23 02-16-2003 06:44 AM

When I'm flying I just hope my arms don't get tired. It's pretty scary when you have a long way to go and you're tired. You get a cramp or something you can fall fast.

Ross 02-16-2003 07:27 AM

I hate flying now.....

but yeah the chicks are hot!

Kimmykim 02-16-2003 02:12 PM

I'm on a plane at least twice a week -- usually Phoenix to LA and back the same day... it's like taking the bus at this point. I'm over 15k miles for 2003 already...

There's not much I can do if its bumpy, so I pretend it's a roller coaster.. There not much I can do if it's sliding down the runway slightly crooked landing at LAX on SW (which it always is for some reason) so I pretend it's a thrill ride...

The only ones that make me a bit nervous are those caribbean commuter type planes -- you know the really old ones that fly from say Curacao to Aruba?

KrazieSweets 02-16-2003 08:07 PM

fuck no flying rocks

TDF 02-16-2003 08:11 PM

Interlude 02-16-2003 08:49 PM

Everyone has a time to go. I just hope mine isnt while I am flying ;)

I like flying but last time I flew I had my son with me (I was pregnant with my daughter at the time). My son is a little guy, at the time he was 16 pounds at 18ish months old (he has a hyperactive metabolism and is very skinny) and got sick pretty easily. Here's some woman with her four screaming kids, every one of them sick with the flu. Man we all got so sick after that flight.. my son had to be hospitalized he lost 4 pounds in a week, and he could ill-afford that. Took him over a year to recover back what he'd lost.

God and her kids were little assholes. I love kids and I'm loathe to speak ill about them but these children really were little demons, running around the cabin pulling stranger's hair, throwing toys and food all over the place, yelling, punching at each other, puking with the door open in the bathrooms, wiping their noses on their hands then touching people on purpose. I saw the dumb bitch with her four little dickwad whelps on the return trip, I've NEVER wanted to bitchslap a mother AND all her kids SO BADLY before in my life.

And you wonder why some people get turned off of the idea of having kids. With mothers like her in the world, Osama has half of his work done for him.

My kids and I are flying back home again in a few weeks (to Calgary, Alberta, Canada). I swear if that lady is there by some stupid quirk of fate (and isn't that always the way?), I think I may strangle her and the kids before we get on the plane.
