Member's Area Comments?

To paysite owners.

Do you guys allow members to make comments on updates? If so, do you moderate the comments?

DWB 10-28-2012 02:45 PM

Yes and yes. However we don't hold them for moderation. Instead we look at the comment admin once a week to check them over. We also block URLs.

That said, fewer and fewer people comment these days.

dgraves 10-28-2012 03:13 PM

Do you just moderate for spam?

I let my members rate each update and make comments. For the most part it goes well and they are extremely active on my site but every now and then they get over critical of the girls.

The strange thing is, the ones that complain the most are the ones that stay the longest. They must enjoy the drama the way people do here.

fitzmulti 10-28-2012 03:34 PM

Yes and yes, also.
I agree about blocking URL's...mostly because with SO many sites members areas to go through, monitoring for SPAM URL's, etc...would be a nightmare...
So "comments only".
;-)

Our system blocks URLS automatically, then we just pop in once a week to keep an eye on any assholes or guys who try to be slick by tricking the system with U-R-L spam, however creative they may try to be. Doesn't happen often but it does happen from time to time.

In regards to guys being overly critical of the girls, that's their opinion and why you give them the option to comment. So long as it doesn't turn into some asshole cutting them down for no other reason than to be a dick, I'd leave it. His reply may may spark debate from others.

Start a white knight account and troll the critical members.

For the most part, they are critical about their performance and complain about some stupid shit.

One girl did a Glory Hole visit and swallowed down 6 loads and a few guys were bitching that it wasn't enough loads.

As much as they complain though, the fetish guys pay each and every month to get their fix.

dgraves 10-28-2012 04:03 PM

I don't really have an issue with spam but every now and then someone will mention a file locker or torrent so I'll moderate those.

xp-ViT 10-28-2012 04:27 PM

members don't comment a lot these days. But one of the most interesting ideas is to allow them to decide what scenes do they want in future updates. And then rate updates. Waiting for update can keep them longer and produce some more rebils.

CyberHustler 10-28-2012 04:30 PM

Yes and no. Not much spam with disqus, and it brings in more members who follow other members comments + extra income with promoted discovery, etc. I use it on a few mainstream paysites, but they also allow adult content I just don't have any adult paysites yet. But I will utilize it when I do.

I get mixed results with showing future updates. I'll show them thumbnails from each video and put up a poll to let them vote on which update they want to see next but sometimes it causes issues.

I find they get frustrated because they know I have about a dozen updates in the can and they want to see them right away.

I don't know if it has something to do with the niche but my members are extremely active on the forum and with comments on each update.

Yea, you can't please them all. I just had a member complain to me the other day because the model was not 100% naked. The stockings were a huge distraction for him and he needed to let everyone know it.

Same thing I've experienced. Just a few years ago you couldn't shut them sending emails in or commenting, but these days inside my members area there isn't much. It all happens on free sites.

I did some tests where I showed them too many future updates and a lot of the guys got pissed. They didn't understand why they had to wait for so much content when I already had it ready. So I reduced it to just a few updates and they all shut up. Not a complaint since.

I get similar results when I show too many future updates. They really start bitching when the girl they voted for doesn't win the poll.

One member was being a real asshole and talking a lot of shit even after getting multiple warnings so I cancelled his membership, refunded his money and blocked him from joining again. Now he's begging to let him join again so they obviously get a thrill out of the interaction.

We tend to focus on social media and blogs attached to the site to get feedback and to find out what people want to see in future videos.

pornguy 10-29-2012 08:33 AM

We do the same as DWB and it works well. We also post a lot of questions and polls and such.

The more interactive the members are, the longer they tend to stay or at least the more often they return.
