Like posting on GFY making fun of someone for watching baseball? That's a better thing to be doing and doesn't give your power and spirit away?

It took a lot for me to not make the same comment

I thought going into this the Tiger's bats would handle what appeared to be a mostly average Giant pitching staff and the Tiger pitchers would shut down the Giant offense that didn't exactly light the league on fire.

But sometimes you get a guy in the moment and he shines. Zito rocked, their closer Romo rocked and they pulled it off. I'm glad for them. There are several guys on that team that I like and root for and the Kung Fu Panda is officially part of World Series lore.

I have been a Giants fan since the mid-60's. TBH, I did not really have time to follow the season and when the Giants made it to the NLCS I was pleasantly surprised but because of what I read and heard I did not have much hope.

When they won the NLCS everything I heard was that they did not stand a chance. I remember on game 7 the announcer saying that Detroit had to be loving all the days off; I thought that was odd. When I was a lad, too many days off usually worked against you and I made that comment to whomever would listen. When I heard their opening pitcher was 7-0 I realized that the game had changed a ton. In my youth 20 wins meant something. 7-0 would have been a relief pitcher.

I feel the pain of a child that was never picked until the end, who everyone aimed for playing dodge ball in gym class, that never ran more than a few minutes of game time because the coach never saw how good he really was, or could have been, if only he had the chance... someone who came to hate the very simple, pure joy of sport and sportsmanship and the one human activity besides making love that is almost universally enjoyed on some level. In game, a joy of competitive spirit, the true brotherhood, as sport has even made violent men put aside differences to settle less brutally, more peacefully on the playing fields of life, from the checkers of chess to the gridiron lines, the starting lines, down the base lines, to the outfields of life... how sad you can't appreciate this and have to negatively criticize those that find happiness there.

Tigers lost their nerve, not sure if it was the 5 days lay off from sweeping the Yankees or they just weren't good enough for the Giants, but something happened. I had high hopes for my Tigers, too bad. Lets hope they channel all this hurt and anger towards going one step further next season.

@baddog - Verlander was on a 7-0 streak, he wasn't 7-0 on the season, he was 17-8, i was wondering why guys barely won 20 games any more, then they had a show about it on TSN. Back when you were a lad, teams went with 3 or 4 starters, guys started 40+ games a year. Now teams all use 5 starters, some actually throw 6 in the rotation, using 1 guy as a starter sometimes, reliever others. So the average pitcher starts 30 games a season now, which is a huge difference when you gauge guys success on how many wins they get. The other big difference is all the new ballparks are around 60 feet shorter than the old ones. Back in the day, great pitchers were fly ball pitchers, and everything got caught. (elite hitters got home runs, the rest of the players on the team would only hit 4 or 5 a season). Now everyone tries to be a ground ball pitcher, otherwise you give up 3 home runs a game. Verlander is without a doubt the best regular season pitcher in the league over the last few years, unfortunately his skills don't translate to the post season, or the all star game, he shits it up in both areas.

Anyways, the Tigers fell apart, although I started the series routing for the tigers, I found myself unable to after a couple games, they were all just sitting there looking like they lost their lunch money.

Okay, that makes more sense. Guess one of the disadvantages of watching tv in bars and restaurants and just getting part of the facts.

Very happy I no longer live in downtown SF. IN 2010 I couldn't sleep for almost 3 days due to non stop honking and people going nuts on the streets. Not to mention idiots setting off mortars in the middle of the street and them going off in their face.
