If you are already having water problems, I suggest you leave and worry about it later.

I had to add gutter piping to the rain spouts since the ground around the house is already saturated , So i just got back to home depot ... and now have 90% of the water redirected Out into the Alley and Street ... the rest is about 10-20 feet away from the house ... worst case scenario I have a submersible pump and a 1 inch gas powered pump for moving water fast if i need.

Its been raining for about 14 hours and we are not even to the bad part of the storm yet .

Lace 10-29-2012 07:46 AM

Baltimore eh? I'm up in Westminster. Wife is at work in Baltimore at one of the hospitals.

Shoot me a skype - awmlace

Btw, it's barely raining here, and very little wind so far. Been like this all morning.

187 gallons per minute MSRP $1469.95

We used to use these to dewater footings and other excavations.

Dewater a basement in a few minutes ...

Yeah, but Baddog was born a few decades before electricity was actually supplied to homes, so he has a little catching up to do.

Oscer, I hope the best for you dude, be safe.

Actually I was referring to the fact that if water is already around the house, there would not be many places you could send it.

Lace 10-29-2012 08:34 AM

Winds and rain are starting to pickup now. I live on a hill top, so should be okay.

God I am so happy I moved away from areas that have weather issues.

Last week it rained here for the first time in months. That's about the extent of our weather. It snowed up North, but it never snows here. Today... It's gonna be Hawaii weather here.

That does make sense ... My Idea was to Create a path of Least resistance for the next 20+ hours of rain ..

You live in california. they have earthquakes. In no way is a hurricane worse then an earthquake.

It's not even close, hurricanes are much worse, especially in the Unites States.

JerseyPuma 10-29-2012 10:52 AM

we live on the upper west side of manhattan a half block from central park, and its drizzling here, trees just starting to move around a bit from the wind. im guessing its going to get a lot worse from the stuff im seeing on tv.

Bat_Man 10-29-2012 12:00 PM

This is a knock.Within decades they may hit every month and last for days.

Maybe a major earthquake that happens twice a decade in the same region. Most earthquakes aren't too bad. Almost every hurricane rips something up, and there are many hitting land every year.

Not sure how you could compare them.

Lace 10-29-2012 12:40 PM

Starting to get bad up here. My fireplace is leaking into the basement where the two junction boxes are. They get wet, I lose power and cause some serious problems!

Hope you all in the mid-atlantic are safe and doing okay!

I've got family in Ocean City, MD trying to get out.

epitome 10-29-2012 12:58 PM

I just want to go home.

shake 10-29-2012 01:13 PM

Hope all of you in the storm zone stay safe. My old house used to flood in the basement like crazy... water can be a real bitch

alex.missyouth 10-29-2012 01:31 PM

To those near the storm, please guys, take all the precautions. Good luck to you all.

oscer 10-29-2012 03:07 PM

Now its a Game of battling the water ... just found a nice crack in the foundation ... and i can say that the ground is over its saturation point and the water is coming in ... now i got a days worth of combating it to do .

SilentKnight 10-29-2012 03:43 PM

Winds are pickin' up here in Niagara, rattling the windows in our 128yr. old house.

Gonna be a long night.
