What a bunch of dummies

It's about 20 degrees outside, and the whole downtown area of Madison is locked down for an Obama rally with a Bruce Springsteen concert. I see on the news that AF one got here about 3am and every spot on the tarmac has a military transport parked on it.

I wonder what this event is costing us. At least Bruce and the band got to fly here today in style.

Did I mention..it's really COLD!!

And all those people guarding the everything are on a wage, also the people who built the military transport and they all go to the shops and spend money. It keeps them employed.

Far better than just giving it away in tax cuts. Cut the deficit in the wrong way and all those people end up on food stamps. Unless you want them to starve because some might defraud the system.

the amount of money spent on campaigning is absolutely disgusting by all parties. they obviously believe money buys votes. there needs to be a law that says you can only spend 1 million dollars or something max. instead of spending 1 billion dollars on a campaign talking about how you want to help america...use that fucking money to actually do it!

An appealing idea but it would be difficult if not impossible to regulate. A better way is to compress the entire election cycle. Reduce the time from primaries to election. Hold the primaries September, final elections in Novemember. Less time (and potentially money) spent campaigning.
