Don't go there man...even if you're in a gray area, all it takes is one complaint or one uptight administrator to freeze your account and all your $$$.

Will you please contain all of your questions to one thread?

Why not just use a billing solution that is black and white on adult?

I'm saying. These threads...I just...

@windycity, you've posted several threads focused on concerns over cbs, and now you're asking about the policies of the most charge-back-happy, anti-adult processor out there?

truth is, if you were really marketing a valuable 'upscale' product to upscale customers, you wouldn't have to worry about cbs. Rich dudes tend not to charge back if they get the service/product they intended to buy. The ten mins is worth more than the $$$$ they'd gain by doing a cb. From my experience it's not unusual for a customer to spend $100's or $1000's on porn in a short period of time, but your $$$$ is only reasonably secure if you're actually providing something of value for the $$$$. If you market tricks and smoke and mirrors to stupid people, no payment solution you find is going to protect you.

Our adult processing rates are high in part due to people like you. It's not all just scummy thieves posing as customers.

Uggh

You do realized all of the adult stuff of Ebay accepts paypal. Does paypal make an exception for ebay listed products?

JesseQuinn 11-06-2012 12:18 AM

ebay has an 'adults only' section and paypal can be used, but the rules there are pretty strict. Also quite specific...porn videos (produced by a "legit studio") are allowed, but "digitally delivered adult goods" aren't permitted. I'd take that to mean selling a hard copy of a porn video is allowed, but selling the same video as a download/pay-per-view/members area vid online is not.

Not very useful for most of our purposes :/

here's a link to the Ebay adults-only section rules: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...only.html#what

I have heard there is away around that "digitally delivered adult goods" aren't permitted. By offering it on a CD and then giving the customer a choice if they want to download or have the DVD shipped. Anyone know about that?

go to paypal and convert your account to business account ,then you have less worries.

JesseQuinn 11-06-2012 12:37 AM

@cashcows, I guess you could, at least until it's reported to ebay and the seller account gets suspended :/

either way, paying for anything with paypal comes with a huge risk...it's ridiculously easy for dudes to cb, and paypal does tend to have a 'freeze account first, ask questions later' sorta policy. Having a business account doesn't change that. I've never been burned by paypal because I don't use it, but in my cam niche I know of a ton of chicas who have had their accounts frozen after a series of cb's. Paypal also includes within it's TOS the right to levy fines of $750 against those that they deem have abused their service. I'm not sure how legal that it, but it's written into the paypal contract. I would imagine using a paypal business account would only make it more likely that one would get fined if caught.

Honestly, as the years go by the 'paypal/adult/cb' thing is only getting worse. As more guys learn that paypal is anti-adult, the legit ones opt for other porn payment options, leaving behind the dudes who want to use paypal because they know how easy it is to fuck over the seller.

If a buyer wants to do a cb, knowing that the seller has bent the rules (in selling adult digital goods as an option instead of a hard copy video) will only make him that much more confident about getting his $$$ refunded.

No matter how you look at it, I don't think using ebay to sell adult digital goods is a sustainable or stable payment option.

I remember when paypal actively solicited Adult Business at trade shows. Then they closed account for anything adult! Now they allow adult on ebay! Screwed up company!

^^^you're preaching to the choir :) :)

cashcows 11-06-2012 12:50 AM

The issue that concerns me would be shipping a physical adult product to certain states that do not allow such material. Why they don't allow digital is beyond me.

Since ebay OWNS PayPal...hmmm...
Gee, I wonder WHY they'd make an exception. ;-)

I was just getting ready to say that...

Are we talking about same paypal that kept on processing for all the file hosting sites for past 3/4 years despite receiving so many complaints with examples of urls depicting hardcore sex?
Or is this another pp?

Sorry. No offense but this is a really dumb question - you do realize people are far FAR more likely to join a site using a simple PP email than a full name, address, and CC number...Palease
