Real people stopped using ICQ a decade ago, due to it being annoying and shit compared to MSN Messenger. Why did adult people stick with it?

I haven't used ICQ much the last few years but I just installed ICQ 2003b Pro (an upgrade from my previous 2001b version) on a brand new Win 7 64 bit laptop solely on the off chance some industry contact wants to contact me there or vice versa.
