Dropbox or Googledrive?

Which do you prefer?

DamianJ 11-08-2012 02:14 AM

I've never thought about using googledrive after reading the ToS where they have the right to use anything you upload to it for any commercial reason they see fit.

Drop box, im always a bit wary of google privacy policies.

nextri 11-08-2012 02:51 AM

I like dropbox better.
Microsoft SkyDrive is also an alternative..

ewsmedia 11-08-2012 02:54 AM

dropbox and private cloudbox

dropbox, because:
1. up to 18 GB space for free (only 5 GB from google)
2. better privacy

Before using skydrive I'd recommend checking their ToS:

Tat2Jr 11-08-2012 03:11 AM

I like the free 50GB that box was/ is always handing out. screw my dropbox and my free 18GB (or god forbid the normal 2GB)

pimpware 11-08-2012 03:14 AM

Dropbox + truecrypt works great :2 cents:

fris 11-08-2012 03:16 AM

dropbox for me, got a free 18gb account

Markul 11-08-2012 03:21 AM

dropbox. 50GB version

borked 11-08-2012 06:48 AM

owncloud - works great

How did you get that, did you refer a bunch of people to their service?

MiLo 11-08-2012 07:13 AM

Dropbox ftw.

DatingFactory 11-08-2012 07:14 AM

Dropbox all the way. I think Google drive is another failure from Mountain View.

sojproductions 11-08-2012 07:16 AM

dropbox for sure

^^ This. Dropbox for me.

CyberHustler 11-08-2012 10:28 AM

I use both

MontrealDave 11-08-2012 11:15 AM

Dropbox. With google+ googledrive and all the google stuff, you never know what file or picture that you'd rather keep to yourself will end up in plain sight.

anexsia 11-08-2012 11:23 AM

Guess I'm the only one using Google Drive...I don't really have anything stored on it though it was kinda just something to play around with and test.

crizatu 11-21-2012 02:45 AM

I'm using Google Drive as well, never felt the need to try Dropbox.

candyflip 11-21-2012 05:26 AM

I use them both and box.net as well. Each for something different.

Gonna check out owncloud. I like the idea of hosting my own setup.

HomerSimpson 11-21-2012 05:28 AM

dropbox
a - easier to use
b - google not spying on me

Denny 11-21-2012 05:53 AM

Dropbox for me :pimp

Verbal 11-21-2012 06:01 AM

We love DropBox, but wish there was an easier way to run 2 different accounts on one computer.

BradBreakfast 11-21-2012 06:06 AM

Whatever you choose, make sure you get "file by file" encryption not "container" encryption like truecrypt. Using "container" encryption requires re-sync of the entire container even if you just change 1 file. Thus, products like Cloudfogger or BoxCryptor are absolutely necessary.

BoxCryptor - https://www.boxcryptor.com/
CloudFogger - http://www.cloudfogger.com/en/download/

Cloudfogger is free...

Verbal 11-21-2012 06:08 AM

By the way, we are also using www.SugarSync.com and actually like it very much!

bbobby86 11-21-2012 07:12 AM

i use drop box... not bad service...

CamsMaster 11-21-2012 11:47 AM

Dropbox for sure :)

shake 11-21-2012 11:54 AM

Using dropbox for a few things, I won't use google drive.
