Just returned from the FSC Summit 2012

Walked away with a couple thoughts

1. Democrats are NOT your friends; Republicans are not your enemy.

2. Measure B could have been defeated if monies had been provided even a week earlier.

3. It is going to take a lot to enforce B.

Pics up later.

Sorry, just walked in the door, pics are uploading as we speak. I might be able to get some up before I have to leave again.

Sorry for the #fail (nothing sexy anyway).

NONE of them are friends of the industry. Try giving a donation and they will send it back to you.

It's all in the way that politicians present the bill. It is very easy to think that it's a good idea to pass a measure that basically says "should porn stars have to wear condoms in order to prevent AIDS."

For the average person that does not think of consequences, this seems completely rational. If they added the effects or the fact that porn stars have less stds per capita than the general population or that we are now going to have gov bureaucrats sitting in on porn shoots to enforce the rules, then I don't think it would have passed so easily.

There is only so much that a small industry can do to educate the general population.

Measure B was put forward by Democrats; Republicans were against it.

Republicans are against it because it gives the industry recognition/legitimacy. Republicans were against .XXX for the same reason. Anything that says porn is here let's regulate or work with them, Republicans are against.

FYI the Republican talk show hosts in LA were upset about it passing.

That's correct, pass or fail, it puts/further add porn on the books as a legitimate service/business to deal with. Basically, Republicans do not want the measure on the ballot at all. This is from committee chairs as opposed to talking heads on TV.

Have another event to do, http://www.pimpspromo.com/fsc-summit-2012-photos/ for all the pics.

You really need to do more research, perhaps listen to the people involved. You could not be more wrong.

For the record, those that suggest the Republicans are anti-porn need to realize that this is not an issue today; they find more value in getting involved with the same sex marriage debate. Obscenity is not something they want to get involved with these days.

Jimmy Kimmel actually did a joke about Prop B last night. He was amused that there will now be people with business cards that says, "Condom Inspector" on them.

no man respect you always deliver, just a bit in hype returning home and no damages ... :thumbsup

That's understandable, not all Republicans have the same views and voice. There are conservatives, moderates, progressives and those that don't care in the Republican party. Pick a group in the Party and you will get different answers. Same goes for the Democrats. As you can see, same for the adult industry itself. It all depends on who wants to take up the fight.

I'm a card carrying member of the Republican Party and I deal with this all the time.

who were the democrats?

icymelon 11-08-2012 08:05 PM

republicans are your enemy. Maybe in California where they are not freaks they might be on the right side of an issue once in a while. but most republicans would close down this business. Repeat I do believe they are the enemy. The republicans are controlled by the religious right.

Funny I didn't even know there was a FSC summit :-D

Guess you were not aware that Romney (a man that you at one time supported) made public statements that he wanted to ban pornography and also signed a pledge to deal with it. Last time I checked Obama did not.

Politicians say a lot of shit; I base my thoughts on actions, not words. :2 cents:

So you are OK if they say they will do something and don't do it? Why haven't you ever extended that right to Obama?

#2 - very true....of all the companies in the industry, only a very small portion donated...if everyone had donated just a bit, would have made the difference

It COULD have made a difference, with a well organized media campaign and a single clear message. It also needed to be far sooner than just a week earlier, at least several months.
