Stupidist shit people you've known have personally done? I'll start.

I got reminded today of an incidence that occured just under 7 years ago. While a group of my friends and I sat down in a friend's house (living with his mom) "Joe."

We told him we'd each give him a dollar if he burned his work schedule with his lighter, with the intention that'd he'd miss work. The bet was on and the schedule went up in smoke.

Joe may have gotten richer by $3, but as planned and because of his indolence, Joe was already riding the line with call-ins and as a result of missing work he got fired.

It's excusable at the tender age of 20, I guess. But what a sad event. :(
What a way to have friends that look out for ya, huh? :Oh crap

That's it?

That is the most stupid thing anyone you know has ever done?

I know a guy was making meth (I live in Florida and Kentucky remember) he also had pills, pot, guns and stolen goods traded to him for drugs. Anyway the dumb-ass has about a hundred grand laying around the house but still writes some bad checks for a couple hundred bucks, ignores bank notices and court summonses and has a warrant issued.

So cops show up at his quiet secluded house, immediately notice a Volkswagen beetle sized pile of scrap stolen copper he just took as payment for some drugs and start looking around. That was over three years ago and he's still locked up and will be for years all over a couple checks he wrote and was too lazy to cover.

I once watched one asshole I knew who after a night of offroading got out of his truck, stopped by the wheel well, bent over, popped back up and said "fuck, I think I've got as gas leak", then walked over to the tailgate, ducked under the the bumper, crawled to the tank, pulled out his ***lighter*** and started looking for it.

I now realize i should have ran and found something to dive behind but I think I wasn't really sure at the time that a human could be that stupid and just stood there in amazement.

Dipshit forgot to put his gas cap back on filling up for the trails.

Hmm, so much idiocy to choose from. But one person that I know comes to mind. My family is comprised mostly of honest hardworking Canadians, with many relatives in the US as well. But one of my nieces years ago got herself hooked up with a crackhead boyfriend, got herself hooked as well, and decided it was a good idea to break into the homes of her family members and steal stuff.

Not only did she sell all her kids' toys and stuff for drug money, but she and her idiot BF broke into my sister's house (her auntie) and stole some electronics and such, as well as a checkbook. Now here's the stupidest part of all... She filled in several of the checks, lamely attempted to forge the signature, and made them out to cash, then was seen on MoneyMart surveilance cameras trying to cash them.

She was caught, charged, and later when she was due to be sentenced (her idiot boyfriend had long since bailed on her) (because he's an idiot) she decided to cut and run, thus she fled the province and ran to Alberta to save her own skin, leaving 3 small children here to fend for themselves. Of course the two older ones of her kids had long been abused sexually by the parade of idiot boyfriends she's had over the years. She now has four kids total and no two of them has the same father.

It's the kind of stuff Sally Jesse Rafael and Jerry Springer made fortunes on.

The only ray of silver lining here is that the 3 kids she abandoned were taken in my her brother (my nephew) and his wife, and they've raised them as their own for the past 10 years now. He's one of the unsung heroes of the world in my book.

Growing up I lived next door to this couple who had a young son. The husband was on disability. For years he was a carpenter and hurt his back on the job (or so he claims). He got a pretty nice insurance settlement and was on disability. Between the two they lived a very average lower middle class life in their 2 bedroom house.

Then his teenage daughter came to live with them so he decided to add a new room onto the house. Over three months one summer he built the entire thing himself. What he didn't know is that the insurance company had him under investigation. They got video of him building this thing, carrying stuff, living what appeared to a normal pain-free life then took him to court. They won and he was hit with a judgement to pay back the entire settlement plus all the disability he had drawn.

They moved right after the case ended so years went by and I never found out if he appealed or what. Then about five years ago I ran into his older son (that didn't live with him) and he told me his dad appealed and lost the appeal. He sold the house and instead of using the money he got from the house to maybe negotiate some kind of settlement offer he used it to buy a bunch of pot plants and the stuff to start a grow operation. His plan was to grow and sell enough weed to pay off his judgement. Of course he got caught and ended up getting 10 years in jail. All because he was a dumbass and decided to build an addition onto his house.

the dumbest thing i ever saw in person was in the 9th grade, there was a small outdoor shopping plaza with a convenience store in it where kids would hang out after school, buying candy, pop, cigarettes. this kid Jeffery, i forget his last name, the classic nerd social reject, wore black dress shoes and white socks to gym class, the black horn rimmed glasses, the zits, he had it all going on. unfortunately for him he wasn't the Bill Gates brainiac type nerd, he was a moron. so he walks into the convenience store wearing a trench coat, the store is jammed with kids, he goes to the magazine rack and stuffs a bunch of porn mags inside the trench coat. so instead of blending in with the crowd and sneaking his way out the door this genius decides he is going to buy something - possibly he thought this would be his cover so the ladies working the counter cash registers wouldn't suspect him. he goes up to the counter looking like the mutant that he was and puts whatever he was buying on the counter, the lady rings it up and tells him how much he owes - he's nervous, gets flustered getting the money out of his pocket, and in a brilliant move opens the trench coat to get at the money and of course a small avalanche of porn mags crash to the floor - the crowd roared with laughter and kids came streaming into the store to of course to pile on.

I have one more that is more funny than anything else.

The town I grew up in has a river about a mile outside of town. My friends and I grew up swimming, fishing and floating down the river in tubes. Every Memorial Day we would take our first inner tube trip down the river. On that date the water was normally still pretty cold, but because the river was still above its normal levels it was fast and fun. This particular year (we were juniors in high school) it was a little colder than normal, but sunny. The whole trip would take about five hours.

About an hour into the trip the weather turned. The clouds came, it got colder and started to rain. We were all freezing. We pull off at this one beach-like area to talk about what to do. One of us had brought a book of matches in a ziplock baggie (this was normal) so we decide we are going to build a fire, warm up, then float to the next bridge, get out and walk back to the car. It was too cold to stay in the water.

My friend with the matches takes them out of the bag and sets the on a rock near where we plan to build a fire and the rest of us scatter to get dry wood and tinder. My buddy, lets call him Dave, gets back with his wood and is so cold he decides to piss himself. We come back and he is smiling and happy because the piss was warm and warmed him up a little. Or course he hadn't looked down. Had he, he would have realized that the piss ran down his leg and soaked the matches. We were fucked. My buddy pissed himself and screwed us all.

We sucked it up, floated another 30 minutes to the next bridge and walked a few miles back to the car in the rain. It was a cold day.

To this day I am still good friends with Dave (and most of the guys on that trip). Whenever anyone mentions being cold and he is in the room we ask him if it is cold enough to piss himself. He will never live it down it was even brought up at the best man toast during his wedding. :)

I drove home and landed in a DWI check point with an open beer and posted about it on GFY. I didn't go to jail.

That has to count right?

Errrrr...... wouldn't the dumbass part be the bit where he decided to defraud an insurance company?

I had a neighbor that was growing weed in his basement in pretty large quantities, apparently.

He went on vacation.

His fire alarm - which went straight to the fire department went off but it was some error.

They responded and because no one was there to verify everything was ok, they were forced to kicked in the door to verify there was no fire, everyone is ok, search the place etc etc.

They see a ton of plants and call the police.

He was arrested in the airport as he got off the plane.

Well. . . there is that.

Here is my theory. I think he was actually at one time hurt, but I don't know to what degree, however, I think it didn't take long and he healed and was better. Just being around him and hearing him talk he was a guy who realized that doing construction was destroying his body so he didn't want to go back to that. When he realized that they could live off of what he had from the injury he just rode it out.

I know this guy who pretends to be "retired" from the adult industry, yet demonstrates no workable knowledge of any component of said industry. He had a minimum amount of success doing cave paintings during "his" era, and now spends what seems like an inordinate amount of time complaining about how things were and speculating (poorly) on what the problems might be.

The saddest part is he's at the end of his life, and should be spending time with his mail-order bride.

I once watched a guy order a Cali Cabernet from 2000 while out for dinner

I smuggled a splif into the EU building in Brussels to get photographed under the EU flag in the main chamber with a splif in my mouth. Thinking about it 8 years later this was stupid, however I had no problems because of it. :pimp
