Financial questions

This might sound like a dumb question, but is producing and distributing porn actually profitable via a subscription site? I started a foot fetish site in September for which I do casting, photography, webdesign, promotion, etc. and I can't imaging how larger companies who have to pay people for each of the roles are sufficient. I was researching a site (I thought) was far larger than mine and they only get a roughly 750 uniques and $14 in revenues daily. Is this standard or is this estimate far off? Can anyone chime in who has experience or knowledge of producing on general revenues and profit?

Any input would be appreciated!

If you have a true foot fetish site you can expect to get anywhere from 1000 on the low end and 15000 on the high end coming in daily to check it out. Not counting returning members. If your site is all that and a bag of chips you can expect 1:150 conversions... If not more like 1:3000. You can see that a good site with good traffic is looking at 100 sales and a shit site only 3 to 6...

What I would tell anybody looking to start a web site is... DON'T unless you have your own traffic source.

So if you have a forum and blogs, or other sites, that already send 15,000 hits to a sponsor a day, go ahead. If you don't you have no business in opening a site. Anyone can buy time with models and have a killer idea. Only a small few can bring that idea to the masses.

I have to agree with V_Rocks. You need your own in-house traffic to feed your paysite. You can build up legal tube.

I'm afraid I have passed the "looking to start" phase, as my site has already been operational since September. My sales figures are about what I expected at this time, and my conversion rate is roughly 1:500. I'm not dissatisfied by any means, but traffic certainly is an issue. SEO has pretty much become a huge area of focus for me, so hopefully I will steadily be able to accumulate more. Thanks for the figures, they really helped for me to determine that this is, in fact, worth all of my efforts. Also, since you seem to know what you are talking about more than most, would it be too much to ask for you too check out my site and offer any advice?
Thank!
