Bad link. Could be like the link I saw on SI.com that the Lakers had HIRED Phil Jackson. A little premature perhaps?

Yea but Melky is one of those flip a coin players...

Can he be as good off the enhancers as he was on them :-)

Blue Jays definitely trying to make some noise though.

yeah I was curious about that myself, but he's a pretty consistent hitting left fielding switch hitter so he can make a big impact either way. It also opens some doors that may have free agents actually wanting to sign in toronto, which only seems to happen once every 15 years or so.. hehe

EricManwinMobile 11-16-2012 12:40 PM

What a week. First the 12 player Swap, and now Melky. Granted a noted PED user, but come on, word around baseball, was that he was in the MVP race, up until he got caught.

potential lineup

1. Reyes=>SS
2. Lawrie=> 3B
3. Joey Bats=> RF
4. EE => 1B/Dh
5. Melky=> LF
6. Rasmus => CF
7. Lind => 1B/DH
8. Arencibia or buck or Arnaud => C
9. Itzturis or bonafcio => 2b

1. J.Johnson
2. M. Buerle
3. B. Morrow
4. R. Romero
5. JA Happ

Come on. America's past time , is coming back to Canada.

Asparaguss 11-16-2012 12:55 PM

Melky is a good move, why he would take a two year contract doesnt make much sense considering he could go there for a year and rake and then cash in but its a good move for the Jays for sure.

I am guessing a lot of teams don't want to touch him right now. I decided months ago (as a huge Jays fan) that I would welcome him with open arms, I don't really give a shit about his doping, I will when the league is actually clean.

I am just worried about why TSN pulled the article after 15 minutes.

XPays 11-16-2012 01:15 PM

he is a piece of shit fyi. not a team player, he's a cheater, and lied to try and coverup

probably some of that is true, but roberto alomar was far from a saint himself and he's got his name on the wall at the rogers centre ... so as long as he can hit.. ;)

I thought that was the Leafs?

dooglas 11-16-2012 01:36 PM

Melky should rake in that lineup. They are fast as hell too!

They didn't. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=409626 (article ID changed it seems).

Yo Adrian 11-16-2012 01:36 PM

Melky was a great sign. I wish we got him!

Yo Adrian 11-16-2012 01:39 PM

You guys will have to come up with your own version of the Melkmen

Bryan G 11-16-2012 02:24 PM

Jays went from 100-1(I think) to win the world series to 15-1 after the trade with florida. Wonder what its at now?

Biggy2 11-16-2012 02:35 PM

you guys praising Melky are hilarious.

as a yankee fan - take it from me... he will be trash so long as he's not cheating and taking roids. the immediate year after the players come off roids, they are never good. and if they weren't good to begin with, they aren't going to be that great. he was a mediocre player at best, roided it up, was amazing. to think hes going to be amazing off roids is a big stretch, becuase he was never that good to begin with.

PR_Phil 11-16-2012 02:36 PM

Derek Jeter - 38
Alex Rodriguez - 37
Mark Teixeira - 32
Raul Ibanez - 40
Andruw Jones - 35
Ichiro Suzuki - 39
+ 6 pitchers over 36 years old.

Blue Jay and Yankees just traded places in the standings.

I heard most of the Jays prospects are illegitimate children of Yankee starters, those dudes are OLD!

so hitting 346 over 110 games last year isn't very good to start with?

correct me if I am wrong, but I believe 346 is better than 336, which was the best average in the league for players who did not get busted for doing roids, and I believe that 336 won Buster Posey an MVP award, and 330 won the AL MVP.

he was good before it, he probably was taking them to recover from an injury, like most, and was getting results so he kept going on them because he's superstitious, like most. hehe

He hits anywhere around 300 and the jays got a great left fielder. I don't expect him to hit 340 this year though.. He does have a chance to hit more homeruns though. the dome is a homerun hot spot, the quietest one in the majors.

StickyGreen 11-16-2012 03:05 PM

They can have that cheater... Giants are building a dynasty and will whoop the Blue Jay's ass if they actually can make it to the World Series...

wasn't always that way - Blue Jays had the highest payroll in baseball, a brand new stadium the world was talking about, stars from throughout baseball wanted to go to Toronto, and record attendance figures - 4mil a year through the turnstiles.

then something funny happened - the Blue Jays won back to back World Series. the labor stoppages didn't help but the truth is that Toronto is a bandwagon/trendy town. the vast majority of the 4 million fans a year weren't real baseball fans. once the World Series had been won, twice, they left in droves, never to return. most will say it was the strikes/lockouts that turned them off the game, not to mention the team being dismantled, ownership and management changes, but the real reason is they just weren't baseball fans.

making it worse is the Skydome, now Rogers Center, is the worst stadium on the planet, a concrete mausoleum. it was built right before the renaissance of the old style ballpark architecture with all the modern amenities. Toronto needs a nice outdoor ballpark, fans would come back. there are more ball fans out there than the 20,000 who still turn out.

i have no patience for baseball, too slow, too many games and those work stoppages baseball was plagued with really did turn me off - i don't like baseball players.

and now hockey is making the same mistakes, letting Donald Fehr once again turn the fans of another sport against the guys who play the game.

Roberto Alomar was one of the best blue jays of all time, classy except for that racist pos umpire who got under his skin. I would have head butted the douche rather than spit on him. Other than that, Roberto was a class act all the way, same with his brother Sandy.

The greatest blue jays of all time were mostly on that 2 championship teams, Alomar, Olerud, Carter,etc..

As far as Melky goes, good for the Jays, low risk high reward. Loved watching Canseco and Clemens play for the Jays, my 2 favorite legends of all time. Legends, juiced or not

Bryan G 11-16-2012 04:06 PM

Ya well time will tell folks. Jays are back baby!!!!!

L-Pink 11-16-2012 04:08 PM

Huh … that's right, Canada has a baseball team.

Lol forget him then! What about the rest the jays just signed! They are about to sign one more massive player too the media is reporting. World series is coming back to TO bitches.

EliteWebmaster 11-16-2012 04:18 PM

Since they are going all in, they might as well not stop now. Sign Hamilton and Geinke and then it's game over for the rest of AL this season

All the Jays have to do is put a decent product on the field and they will get 35-45k fans a game again. They have went ahead and done that, next year will be good!

Wilbo 11-17-2012 09:25 AM

I hope the Orioles do as well as the surprising season they had last year. I'm sick of NY and Boston getting all the glory. If not the O's I would like to see Toronto get it.
