Critic Wethoney Redesign
Ok. Webinc is working on our site here is the preliminary "SPLASH" page:
http://www.webinc.com/work/wethoney/ None of the animations or slicing has been added yet. Tell me what you think? |
The join link does not work
Just kidding, they are doing a great job |
I think you've finally spent some money to make some more money, grats :thumbsup

Thanks to everyone for all of the advice. There is hope for the young one yet.. :Graucho |
i think the page is a little bit too long, if its gonna have vertical scrolling you should put the "members only, join now, free preview" links at the top.
Otherwise, really nice page! have you worked with webinc before, did you liek their other work? |

Anyone else agree with this? Yes I've worked with webinc before with a couple of the other companies I own. |
....^

One of the golden rules of design in my book
There should be some kind of extremely prominent "join now!" type of button within the 800 x 600 (or 780x 600) frame - preferably at the bottom. Why make people scroll and hunt - they're horny and want in NOW! :) |

Ooops hit post before I was done.
The font you're using for "Welcome to Wethoney.com, the only site..." and "The most georgeous girls with tasty..." just doesn't belong there. I'd use something like Arial Black caps with a gradient fill and mask - but that's all about taste I guess. |
I absolutely love iot. The scrolling in 800*600 isn't that bad - when you scroll down to see the rest of the page you get the "join" link at the same time as the hot chicks in wet t-shirts.
Suffices to say I clicked the join link. (which didn't work) |

Glad you like.. it's not live yet.. I'll let you know when it is so you CAN join.. :Graucho |

I would assume that the focus of your site is to get members to join. That needs to be the most prominent course of action on the page The average user looks at the 8x6 area above the fold in this manor, Top left corner, then they slide their eyes to a bit above center of the page. After that they will go to the most eye catching picture I have done user studies for large e-commerce sites and this is what we have found. (look at hsn.com, qvc.com ogl.org) you will notice that their ?hot spot? is a bit above center and their logo is top left. You most expensive real-estate on your site are those two spots. If I understand what a tour page is supposed to do I would make sure my logo was top left. This would make sure that the customer knows your name and if you logo is catchy enough for your target audience they wont forget it. Then I would have a join now button about 175-225px from the top and the same from the left. At the bottom right corner above the fold I would put a next image button. I would then dress the rest of the page around those three key items. The key to a good sales site is being able to push the potential customer where you want him to go with out them realizing your doing that. :thumbsup |
excellant thank you.

Looks real good. Todd's crew does a great job :thumbsup

ok, I'll add a little bit of my perspective. Almost nobody, unless he has seen you before and bookmarked you, joins from the first page. You need a join link there, but I don't like to hit them over the head with it. Avoiding the word "join" if you can is good because that immediately teaches the smart surfer he is in a paysite. "get it all now" or something draws bettter, IMO.
Also, your tour link is a little hard to find. Make it stand out, and again I even have an opinion on the word "tour" - it gives surfers the same impression they are at a typical paysite. Be more creative, or follow the amateur style with lots of links - to pictures, videos, bios, whatever you've got. |
I would add a trademark symbol to the "Wet Honey" logo at the top. It will make you seem like you're the original, not some "Wet Honey" wanna be. :)
|
That join "box" is dull and doesn't stand out from the page.
I still really hate that itallic font - hard to read and is really only being used as filler - could be better to just get rid of it, slice that area as a background and use CSS and normal HTML text for a good big of sales blurb. The text at the bottom is fragmented "See exclusive footage from wild wet t-shirt contest at the Olympic..." - should be something like "Uncut and dripping wet! Check out our coverage of the Olyumpic Garden's Wet T shirt contest - Vegas babes getting soapy in the city of sin!" or something. The bullet points need some work too - every site uses the "chat, show, cam, pictures" thing - be a bit different :) |
Still working... Here is the latest. I was talking to webinc about changing the "font" and modifying the Logo a bit.

Do you want my honest opinions? It looks like every other site out there.
I recently had a company shoot me some redesign ideas for my own site: Here's the way the site looks now: http://www.NakedCollegeGirls.tv Here's the first redesign proposal: http://www.nakedcollegegirls.tv/design-proposal/ My member's hated it. So here was the second one: http://www.tanakadesigns.com/clients...rls/index.html My members said it looked better than the first proposal, but all of them voted to keep my site how it is. They said it looks more honest and lets them know exactly what they're going to get. Members want to look at models, not fancy design. Designers need to pay attention to this. Some of the best converting sites I've ever sent traffic to are ALWAYS very simple. Examples: This converts very well: www.teenflood.com So does this one: http://www.atkingdom.com/kingdom1.htm See how simple and straight forward they are? No fancy graphics... just a "Here's what you're gonna get inside" look. If a site is too fancy it looks like you're a large company trying to get members without caring about quality. Just my :2 cents: , but I have more than 15 pages of feedback from members and visitors that let me know their opinions. So maybe this :2 cents: is worth more than just two cents. :winkwink: Good luck. |
I couldn't agree more with Donovan.
And I still think the actual wording of your text links can be spiced up, ass I mentioned in my post above. Just IMO, of course :) |
I think it is pretty...I get tired of my homely looking site
( http://www.KaylaCam.com ), but I am too PhotoShop retarded to do anything TOO fancy...I envy sites like the one they are building for you, Wethoney! |
