Guidebook.xxx -- Who knows enough to write one?
Guidebook.xxx
Either I can sell this domain to somebody ... Or I can partner with somebody to develop it. Development has 2 options: (1) A guidebook based on geographical areas. (2) A guidebook for creating and monetizing adult websites. I'm particularly interested in #2, since it ties in nicely with affiliate programs and can be monetized as a kind of "How To" for the industry. Personally, I don't run any adult websites at the moment. So creating a Guidebook.xxx with someone more experienced from GFY.com would be a good apprenticeship. Even if someone buys the domain from me, I'd probably look forward to using the developed product. |
Not interested in .xxx ... essentially useless ... have the .com?

If you are looking for an expert in adult sites who would be willing to write a guidebook Paul Markham is your man. He's banned from here until the end of the month though. Sure his email is easy enough to find. He is an expert in traffic generation, coding, META codes and everything else needed to build a quality adult site.
See http://paulmarkhamteens.com for an example. The only person higher than Paul on the adult food chain is Fabian of Manwin. He may have some free time for this project. |
Interesting idea you have.

I don't know the future regarding .XXX or anything else. All investments are speculative and risky to some extent. Most of my portfolio consists of TLDs other than .XXX. But, no, I'm not the owner of Guidebook.com.
@ epitome, Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check out Paul Markham's work and maybe drop him a line. |
@ epitome,
Regarding your other recommendation, Fabian at Manwin ... I was under the impression that Manwin was 100% allergic to .XXX. Is that not the case? It seems like it would complicate things since the domain slated for use is a .XXX name. |
The ICM Registry set aside .xxx domains for Manwin. Manwin was upset with the new gLTD; however, may invest in it like the other studios. Frank Shilling was lucky to purchase some of the most valuable .xxx domains before they even came available. Names such as chat.xxx, bollywood.xxx, local.xxx, etc. 16 .xxx domains for $1.6 million.
|
My recollection is that Frank Schilling paid $1.65 million for 33 .XXX domains, which would be $50k apiece. Given what some of them were, I think he got a great deal. There have been subsequent .XXX sales much higher -- e.g. Gay.xxx for $500,000 ... Fetish.xxx for $300,000 ... Shemale.xxx for $200,000 ... Toys.xxx for $125,000 ... So I'd say that he paid about 10% what the current market indicates they are worth.
Honestly, I think I have some .XXX domains that are as good (or very close) to those held back by the ICM Registry. Name a body part, and I've probably got it in one or more languages. (Well, not Ears.xxx!) Plus, words for gay, lesbian, men, women, tranny, father, mother, etc. If .XXX succeeds, plenty of the domains I'm holding will ride that wave. This isn't boasting because I do say "If". |

.xxx is a useless failed extension great success for a $500k domain: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/gay.xxx |
The hypocrite speaks. Dot com investors were immediately sour from the release of the new .xxx extension and they have every right to be. It completely flooded the domain market -- especially for an industry as large as adult entertainment. I do believe it will take off even more than before. The release of search.xxx has already gained the attention of millions of unique active users for adult entertainment and it's on the rise. Search.xxx is exclusive to .xxx websites only.

There definitely are benefits to .XXX in terms of branding. For example, I can own Benefits.xxx for a fraction of the cost of Benefits.com. It's also shorter than FriendsWithBenefits.com. Furthermore, Benefits.xxx is clearly differentiated as an adult-themed site from Benefits.com (which would probably deal with pensions and retirement plans). I'm fully prepared to acknowledge pro's and con's to the ICM Registry launch. But there ARE pro's -- not just con's. Which outweigh which is open to debate. |
Sorry guys, google has devalued exact match domains repeatedly. search.xxx traffic is in decline already according to alexa (http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/search.xxx) and posts by a few people that own .xxx domains.
.xxx is not supported by the adult community other then a few random companies and all these .xxx for sale threads are being pushed by domain speculators. We aren't "dot com" investors, we run adult sites. We are your end users and we as a community want nothing to do with .xxx and all their deception. |

On any given day, I probably write 5-50 pages worth of persuasive content and explanatory material -- adjusted for various audiences. And I have an editorial background; so the written content on any site I work on would be extensive and hopefully interesting. Since I only work for myself and am an absolute workaholic, I can do a lot of research and active networking also. Ultimately, though, how I would collaborate with someone depends on the someone. |
