Fuck walmart and fuck ...
Fuck walmart and fuck other retailers for following them in ruining Thanksgiving. At one time Thanksgiving meant something. In fact it was my favorite holiday. No gifts just friends/family hanging out eating drinking having a leisure day.
Now it's the launch day for greedy merchants optimizing Christmas profits. I cannot imagine being a retail employee being forced to work on Thanksgiving day or lose their jobs. Really, you greedy fucks couldn't keep your stores closed for half a fucking day? You had to ruin Thanksgiving? |
I agree with you L-Pink. Same with Christmas and New Years day. I remember when all stores were closed on those holidays, now it's "fuck quality family time, come spend your money at my store". We are open on Christmas and New Years Day..Disgusting :disgust
The only people who benefit from it besides the greedy stores are the kids who didn't get what they wanted for Christmas and the parents feel guilty about it and will rush to Walmart and other places on Christmas day to buy it for the kids.:Oh crap |

They're only doing it for humanitarian reasons, like when NATO bombed the fuck out of Libya
|
This isn't a "new" thing...been going on LONG before WalMart became insanely big & popular...
I had to work many a holiday back in the early 80's when I was managing a camera store for a huge national chain... So I agree with you TOTALLY...but it's nothing "new", and not specifically WalMart's "lead" to follow. Yet, if they - or any other big chain - would LEAD in NOT doing it...THAT would be great! |
I remember visiting my parents and driving around their neighborhood. Almost no cars on the road and almost zero businesses open. Now Thanksgiving day is officially nothing but the launch day of Christmas revenue.
Fools that shop are one thing but the poor employees forced to work … that's inexcusable. |
At least more people are figuring out that you can get the same deals, sometimes better, when buying online without the black Friday bullshit.. :winkwink:
I wait til Christmas Eve. :upsidedow |
Black Friday is a scam for sheep. Retailers are still laughing that people are dumb enough to fall for it.

@Nordstrom pledges no holiday decorations until after Thanksgiving: "One holiday at a time"

And no, I don't subscribe to the bullshit you subscribe to because I am based in the real world and don't live in Mommy's basement or take on crackhead roommates when I finally try to go out on my own. Edit: speaking of every day should be special, practice what you preach and get the fuck off GFY all day. |
if people ignored the sales, they would stop doing it.

Quite a few jobs are year round: Movie theaters, restaurants, retail, anything entertainment. The extra hours open create extra jobs.
Just don't go into those occupations. When I'm happily working my 10th or 20th straight 16 hr day I dont shed a tear for anyone else. I could choose to work less and make less but I don't. We all make choices and with those are sacrifices. |

By the way some people does not have family or friends so to them Thanksgiving is nothing much.. And I would like to see you deciding to lose millions of dollars so that you could let your employees to enjoy the day off.. Quote:

Fuck Walmart. Boycott the bastards 365 days a year. Wallyworld is the epitome of the "race to the bottom" mess the country is in. Made in China garbage - made by slaves, sold by slaves. It's an evil system. Choose not to be part of it.
|
I am waiting to see if the Black Friday walkout will happen at WallyWorld. |

For us Canadians, Thanksgiving is much less of a big deal. We eat turkey with family, get caught up etc, but don't exchange presents or spend any money really. "Black Friday" on the other hand is becoming a big deal here for some. Probably not as big as the US version but still. What I plan to do tomorrow is check out a few websites of stores I shop at, and if I see a deal I may buy something, but I have no plans to fight the crowds at stores. |
Well, money is the eye of the devil.
|
well, the government could make it an official bank holiday and force the shops to stay closed - like in many other countries. But that would be socialist and you dont want that either ;)
|
If there wasn't demand they wouldn't be open. So fuck every consumer that thinks they NEED to buy shit.
