new windows 8 machine

so I got my new box up and running this morn... i7 @4.7, 120 ssd C drive, 32 GB ram, 2 nivida cards... 3.4K.

(yes I know I could have gotten the equivalent mac for 7-8K and been much cooler... and WAY more creative, thanks in advance for pointing out that I'm a complete 'non creative' dumbass)

I really don't see the struggle with win8 at all. works fine and not really that confusing, not any more than switching to win7 from vista... (vista was real crap for sure) I really can't see the issue with win8 at all.

win8 runs faster and smother than win7 from what I've been experiencing so far, been running win8 on my hdv editing machine for about 2 weeks now. no issue at all :2 cents:

I loaded up the biggest piece of crap software I could find on my machine to see how it will run... adobe bridge opens in about 1/2 second and photoshop takes at least 1 second to load up ..... :thumbsup

I wonder what exactly you got because i recently built a computer which was 2500 dollars or so and most likely has a more expensive gpu and cpu than you have. So where did your extra 1k go to?

Edit: i have 16 gigs less (which is cheap anyway) and only 1 video card but it was like 500 bucks or so.

The main complaint about win8 is usability. About how it is has what was called the Metro interface, designed for touch, on desktops. That it hides controls etc.

It's great you like it and that is good and I imagine as a power user you can find all the controls, and do away with Metro etc.

Here's what Neilson has to say:

Other stuff as well... wireless Bluetooth water cooled CPU and video cards. 2 tb d drive HDMI inputs etc...

metro is fine, just takes a few min to find the stuff I need. no big deal at all. I read email, I edit photography, I browse the internets, I do the books and make scheduals, and I listen to music... pretty sure I could play pc games if I wanted to...

win8 has not caused me any issues at all with any of this stuff and win8 on my hdv editing box has not caused any issue at all either...if all that isn't good enough for Nielson really have no idea what to say :2 cents:

The fast opening speeds have more to do with your SSD than anything else.

Agreed. I can open Sony Vegas in under 1 second on my SSD. Although to be fair, the processor in that machine is a beast as well.

oh how authoritative from a guy who still uses tables on his site and didn't ever bother to redesign it and catch up with standards....
