The fiscal cliff is more accurately called the Austerity Bomb.

Austerity during tough economic times has been shown, time and again, to be a recipe for disaster. When you can borrow at 0% interest with the express purpose of stimulating the economy, fucking do it. It's not something you want to do forever, but going austerity right now would be an utter disaster.

The fiscal cliff does seem like a bunch of shit, but it's not as if there aren't consequences of going into even more severe debt. How low do we want the dollar to be worth?

They just want to run up the credit cards more so they scare the shit out of everyone and days after the deadline they'll renew the tax breaks, vote on an increase of the debt and go on a spending spree like a drunken sailor in a whore house.
