Anyone here not afraid of heights??

Normally I don't have a problem with heights, but this video made my legs a little weak. There's absolutely no way you could ever pay me enough to do this as a job. I guess it takes a special person to want to do this.

NETbilling 11-26-2012 01:24 PM

The feeling of falling is insane. I have a condo in Vegas on the 28th floor and it freaks me out to even get near the edge of the balcony.

Choopa_Pardo 11-26-2012 01:27 PM

I would have no issue with that task given they are harnessed and roped to the structure. Looks like fun, in fact.

i dont even step on regular ladders that higher than 1 meter - lol

Minte 11-26-2012 01:31 PM

Heights don't bother me at all, however my arms are tired just watching him climb that tower.

PR_Glen 11-26-2012 01:36 PM

i think all of us get a bit dizzy looking straight down like that. Even the harness thing doesn't help me any. Too much relying on lowest bid engineering going on with those ;)

Watch the video - the last however many metres they free climb :2 cents:

Choopa Phil 11-26-2012 01:52 PM

I would only do it if I was locked in the entire time. Gone skydiving multiple times, but this takes a brass set.

bronco67 11-26-2012 02:12 PM

Do this job have a "bring your parachute to work day"?

bronco67 11-26-2012 02:14 PM

"now we've reached the base of the antennae> From here its just another 60 feet to the top."

Oh, is that all?

qwe 11-26-2012 02:22 PM

not only russians doing that, my brother used to do that all the time when he was a kid. one problem to consider.. there's no bathrooms up there.. hehe

incidentally he works as an arborist now!

Rochard 11-26-2012 02:33 PM

I am afraid of heights, but I can get over it. My kid wanted me to go on a zip line in Hawaii, and I was able to do it.

Doing something like this... Insane.

Phoenix 11-26-2012 02:35 PM

balls of steel

RyanEagle 11-26-2012 02:59 PM

That actually looks pretty awesome, although I think my arms would get tired real fast.

My friend's brother does work like this and they don't get paid as well as you would think. He and a crew had the job of painting an 1800 ft tv mast. Took them several weeks to do it and he had some insane videos.

AllAboutCams 11-26-2012 05:11 PM

No fucking way i would rather be shot at

fitzmulti 11-26-2012 05:15 PM

That's not for me, that's for sure! :P

I get vertigo at anything over three feet above sea level and actually passed out once when helping a buddy put a roof on his house. I wear Magical Gravity Shoes to keep me glued to the Earth. I have difficulty crossing bridges when driving so I plan my routes carefully to avoid them as much as possible.

Funny thing though is that once I drove Red Mountain Pass and did fine! Not today though!

I cannot watch this video without getting sick:

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

tfs 11-26-2012 05:30 PM

I'm not afraid of hieghts but I "suffer" from severe vertigo. I LOVED my 18th floor penthouse apartment. It was in North York and it faced south. I worked while looking over the Toronto skyline.

Unfortuntely, if I went out on the balcony or terrace and looked down, the whole city spun. I felt a compulsion to lean over the edge. Nothing like paying for a terrace that you can't use.

I bought a bungalow.

ErectMedia 11-26-2012 08:25 PM

afraid of heights here :helpme

Do you also have a fear that if you lean against the railing it will fall and so will you?

Heights don't really bother me but that is an irrational fear that I have.

I never worry that the balcony itself will go though. Just the railing.

2MuchMark 11-26-2012 11:58 PM

I've seen this video before but it still makes my hands sweat.
