Affiliate programs using nice tools?

Been out of active duty of adult for a 2-3 years now and I was wondering if there's anything new and exciting going on. Been working mainly with media agencies in the nordics etc and I've been experiencing a whole new game when it comes to online advertising and I can't but wonder what adult... the original innovator in online has come up with lately.

Are there any affiliate programs using "new" tools to get the best results out of their banners/ads? Various targeting models aside from geo. Data is fun and affiliate programs ought to have plenty of it.

Such as retargeting previous visitors with different banners? Dynamically created ads based on prior user behaviour on either on other publisher sites (interest based) or an actual visit to the paysite itself (tracked behaviour there).

How about rich media ads? Expandable ads with videos, tools to brand your own site to the paysite (like a complete takeover, with synchronized ads + wallpaper etc).

...or is adult stuck in 2005 with "clever" geo ads and pop-ups to live chat sites? :)

.... or is GFY the wrong place to ask these sort of questions to begin with and should I just post funny pics and racial slurs and attack someone who doesn't share my view of the world. That's fun too.

Still stuck in 2005 hehe lol. I'd like to hear the answer to this as well because some good ideas can go a long way - but i'm sure most keep them secret :(

What's working for you guys in the mainstream world? I'd like to see more incentive based marketing on the networks with varying levels of promotions that are free to paid promoting the "average joe" to get things for free by selling your brand. I know the affiliate programs goal is to get a marketing person or someone dedicated to the task. But never underestimate the power of the average guy who can tell some friends and sell for you :) Just saying ;)

Well, in mainstream affiliate is not that essential for big brands/advertisers. The media agencies go direct to big publishers or use real time bidding etc to get the ad spots they want.

Affiliate in mainstream isn't that much more advanced than here. There's more tools for advertisers (affiliate networks etc), but not so much for publisers.

</my view>

..how about MPA3, NATS etc.. have those some advanced features?
Xml feeds for publishers? Banner rotators based on ctr/conversion/frequency ratio etc? Technical targeting of banners (ie. different for mobile/tablet/desktop), download speed (redirect slower connections to less graphical tour and broadband to the full tour etc). Language detection of browser and showing relevant ads/tours if available... and stuff like that?

...or is all that left to the publisher and the only thing affiliate programs offer is free content, free content and more free content?

Unless it's a WordPress plugin I wonder if even 5% of webmasters would know how to even use such tools.

Some of the posts here by veterans asking for help on the most trivial things is evidence of that.

Don't shoot the messenger... I am one of those people myself... luckily I can just describe what I need to one of our programmers.

Nailed it.

Its hilarious that those "mainstream" affiliates are buying up all the tube spots and killing it in adult. Everyone here complains about how bad things are and the mediabuying forums are full of the guys doing 1-10k/day on their adult campaigns.
Twisted world.

Oh yeah this is GFY, i gotta be tripping or doing creative spam lol

Yes. I do a few paysites going on and some traffic sites. Pondering if it's worth to start to redo some things in adult since it's EASY traffic...But, otherwise I've more or less moved on to mainstream advertising world :)
