Question for the Apple experts

Is booting on the super fast 10 Gbps Apple thunderbolt port any faster than the internal 6 Gbps SATA3 ?

I'm thinking that I can get extra performance out the 10 Gbps port rather than the old and slow PC based "SATA" technology

As opposed to just going Solid State, you mean? Or is there some reason you don't want SSD?

I think both my Macbook Air and Pro w/retina use Flash SSD or so but I think they still use the Sata3 controllers which is only 6 Gbps.

With Thunderbolt I guess I should be able to get up to 10 Gbps speed to the disk drive(s) ?

I would think either interface would be faster than a mechanic disk if that is what you're using, so it wouldn't make a difference. I would stick with internal just so that you don't have to worry about your disk getting unplugged.
