Just left the ultimate man cave

I can't believe it; got invited to visit one of the coolest places in the South Bay, with my camera. After several minutes of shooting I am asked what my plans are with the pics. I tell them and they ask me to just save them for my personal use.

Damn. Close to $50 million in cars and I can't show anyone. :(

Some Guy 12-07-2012 05:04 PM

Holy crap! Where were you, Jay Leno's garage? Ha.

epitome 12-07-2012 05:06 PM

I wasn't aware Minte moved to CA! ;)

DWB 12-07-2012 05:07 PM

Glad you enjoyed my birthday gathering. It was nice seeing you again.

woj 12-07-2012 05:14 PM

"pics or it didn't happen" :)

Well, I guess I can show a couple pics from outside. Give me a few to get them uploaded.

Given that Shelby died just recently...I'm assuming it was a self-guided tour?

shake 12-07-2012 05:35 PM

It was given by the guy that assembles and certifies their new engines.

I am officially jealous. Carroll Shelby is one of my heroes. As an owner of a Shelby 500 Mustang I have always wanted to check out his garage, see what he has and just see how the legend lived.

How did you get the invite?

One of the members of our business networking group (Business & Beer) does laser engraving. He picked up a gig with Shelby when they realized someone stole the original template for valve covers and they noticed the checkered flag in the CS logo was missing, so he had to add it for them. I guess he is trying to do some more work for them.

I have helped him get some work, so he repaid me by getting me the invitation.

Here are a few pics from the outer office. Sorry, can't show the collection online.

Sweet.

I had heard that one of his sons was running the business now. By chance did you meet him?

No, actually it is my understanding that the operation was purchased by some guy up in NoCal; owns some vineyards and deals with removing hazardous waste. They showed me some pics of the guys collection . . . he owns like 35/50 of the original Cobras still on the streets. Stupid rich.

Spunky 12-07-2012 06:38 PM

Wow,those must be some awesome pics.you can post them here,we won't tell anybody

I really wish I could, but I want to do some stuff with them later, so going to be a good boy for now. If you come over, I'll show you.

Maybe I should make some posters and give them away as Xmas presents.

TBH, when they said I could not publish them I slowed down on clicking the shutter . . . . and then they took me to the top secret room where no pics allowed. That was actually just as cool as the cars were.

Selfish bastard! :1orglaugh

I'm contacting him and making myself available for adoption.

baddog 12-07-2012 08:14 PM

I think he is waiting for them to become valuable.

Still sounds like it was kickass experience. Hopefully you will get to work on some projects with them in the future.
