need a name for my kids science fair project

It is about whether salt water freezes faster than tap water.

Just need a name that will catch peoples attention.

I'm banned from participating in science fairs... :Oh crap

Spoiler Alert: Salt water freezes at lower temperatures than freshwater due to the salt, which is one reason salt is used on snow-covered roads (the precise temp is determined by the volume of salt in the water). :thumbsup

For extra credit you should should show results of tap water with and without fluoride added.

Good idea

It's the opposite, clear water freezes at a higher fusion point than salt water.

tell to your kid to talk about this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eutectic_system#Others

for the cinetic:
http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/th...ity-d_429.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brine#Properties

the thermal conductivity is slightly the same, so there is no reason that it freezes faster at it's fusion point.

ps: this subject is probably harder to handle that you think it is.

Why not just "What freezes faster?"

Asking a question is an easy way to get people to pay attention.

spiederman 12-12-2012 09:33 PM

"make meth in 3 easy steps"
