French Teacher could be suspended because...

he asked his students to write their own suicide notes. Nifty, huh?

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DSGad4Vymi...de%2Bbrief.jpg

A French secondary teacher asked his pupils to write a teenaged suicide note. His students who were aged 13 and 14 told them to think of a good reasons for wanting to kill themselves and describe their self-disgust. Naturally as the parents of his student got wind of this, they contacted the French Education Department.

The teacher faces suspension for the essay. He taught at the Montmoreau-Saint-Cybard secondary school in the Charente region of western France.

im all for free speech and open learning etc etc
but sometimes people take too many liberties with your kids.

J. Falcon 12-12-2012 09:24 AM

That sounds like a pretty stupid assignment.

stever 12-12-2012 09:36 AM

MaDalton 12-12-2012 09:37 AM

It's pretty stupid and reprehensible as the suicide rate in the 13/15 years range is high.

bronco67 12-12-2012 10:35 AM

Why would he think this would be a good idea?

Maybe he wanted to make them think about it so he could teach them how badly suicide affects everyone around the person that does it and put them off ever considering it.

CaptainHowdy 12-12-2012 12:31 PM

The thought of suicide can be comforting, why all the outrage? ...

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 12-12-2012 04:43 PM

Thought crime alert.

If you use your job to make a personal statement, don't be surprised if someone takes it away from you.

fatfoo 12-12-2012 07:31 PM

How cruel. On earth, we are really living in systems that remove people. Some of these systems release criminals and exclude retards.

Sounds like a sick teacher who wanted to read about the issues his students faced.

I think it's too risky at that age. That's college-level. 13-year-olds go crazy over a zit, they most likely aren't well-equipped enough to handle thoughts of suicide and be able to separate those thoughts from reality. Those are pretty powerful thoughts. Many of those kids are already fantasizing about suicide. Something like this could push them over.
