What's the going rate for freelance writers on GFY?

I'm working on a new project that will involve a significant amount of writing that isn't in the wheelhouse of our in house editorial team so it will most likely be outsourced. I'm curious what people are typically paying free lancers on a per word basis. Or if you pay or get paid per bio, blog post, review etc. what is the going rate and for how many words.

I am looking for these services going into the new year so if you are interested, have a good reputation with credible references and are interested please let me know.

Sam its Alex. We met a few times at the shows. Write me directly, and I will put you in touch with one of the best writers in the business (mainstream and adult). American, native English writer ... excellent work.

Good luck!

Hi, To the OP. We can do the writing possibly. We can also translate to different languages. Let us know if you are still in need or professional writers and translators, mainstream and adult. RJ

We can give you an estimate once we know what the work entails.

Every project is priced individually. The time it takes to write a two thousand word magazine article or a two thousand word website are very different. Your project is unique. The interface you use, depth of content, length of deadlines, prospects of ancillary work and ease of dealing with you directly affect the pricing. Anyone charging 'X per word' must think 'all words in all projects for all clients are the same.' That simply isn't true. That's why I get details about the project, discuss ways I can help you best and give you a specific price before the work begins. My work is always guaranteed and there are many well-known site owners who have used EngineFood for years willing to provide references.

Contact me any time via ICQ, Skype or Email to discuss your project specifically. Thanks :)

It's difficult for people to post rates without going into specifics about the work. I've seen ranges recently with an extreme lower end of .0075 per word on up to the higher end of .03 per word. It's usually the native English writers that charge rates toward the higher end.

Hope that helps :)

That's a good post. :thumbsup

I basically base my stuff on about $20 per hour. Depending on what the project is I might be able to crank out a lot of work in that hour or maybe a little. To give you a few ideas I might be able to write basic 200 word blog posts for around $2.50 each at that rate if they are pretty straight forward, but if you needed me to do research and learn about stuff I might be able to do less.

I'll hit you up with an email and some of my samples.

I maintained a successful travel blog for quite a while before selling it. I've never traveled off of the east coast of the United States. Yet, I'm sure I have the knowledge to go round for round with someone who has visited a destination and spent a few weeks there. It was a lot of research!

Sam - Mr. Skin 01-24-2013 01:34 PM

Bump for more writers. If you are interested and haven't received an email from me with the details please contact me on email or chat and I'll get those over to you. We are hiring right now so don't wait!
