When I was back in High school we never had to worry about shit like this..

90-94 the worst thing that happened was a fist fight here and there and we had our "wigger wannabe gangs" that acted tough but nothing like this shit...

I just saw they are saying this killer fuck had aspurgers /autism Ii hope they do no blame the killings on that now..

Anyways keep your kids safe ,,,, as we all are seeing crazy fucks out there. :(

I didn't see anything that said he was ever diagnosed with autism. It was just an off-hand comment by the brother. I saw some lengthy discussions about autism on a couple of channels, but no one ever pointed out that Lanza wasn't officially autistic.

May 1, 1992: Olivehurst, California Eric Houston, 20, killed four people and wounded 10 in an armed siege at his former high school. Prosecutors said the attack was in retribution for a failing grade.

we had race riots when I was in HS back in 69-73.. and mostly the worse this could happen would be a beating with a chain... and it was really hard to buy pot as well... so by GFY reasoning medical weed is the issue with the mass murders for sure... :thumbsup

Ok, there's always been violence in schools -- but the mass shootings is a more recent historical trend.

I went to high school in the 80's....and I NEVER worried about a gunman entering the school with an assault rifle to kill as many people as possible. Sure, there were people getting shot in schools because of accidents and disputes -- but not this kind of thing. It wasn't part of the zeitgeist back then. If I was a child in school now, I would be super paranoid about anything happening in my school. Every time something dropped on the floor I'd be wondering if this was the end.

But we also didn't have cable news to inform us and scare the shit out of us constantly.

I thought that the assault rifle was left in the car and he only had pistols on him.

You should be more afraid of teachers teaching Americans to be 1st grade degenerates. I went to a US high school for a few years. It's a sad sight.

My wife is 1st grade teacher, and she'd say that while there's some deadbeats in her profession -- there's a lot more who are passionate about their jobs, and born to do it.

He had 4 guns total. I think 2 Assault rifles & 2 pistols if I'm not mistaken. He left one of the rifles in the car.

I was in HS '82-'86. Never once saw a gun there or was concerned about it. Never crossed my mind. There were plenty of knives tho.

I remember when I was in the 9th grade a student punched a teacher and knocked him out. He got in school suspension. Of course there were no police or anyone called, that would be ridiculous.. yet common these days.

Yeah dude.. never had to worry about that. Irony being one of my friends used to carry around a butterfly knife and he'd do all kinds of tricks with it in class when the teacher wasn't there. Connected with him on FB a year ago and now he's a religious whack job.

I was nervous only once about a possible shooting at school in the 8th grade in 2000. A couple of Goth's were talking about it, then I realized I was friends with one of them before he turned Goth and he talked to me one day and asked if i remembered him. We talked and laughed for a while, so I thought chances are I'm safe if he starts shooting

guns have been everywhere for a long time, it's just what people are willing to do with them now.

I went to high school in a small town in Ontario, where there is very little gun violence. A good buddy of mine came to my high school because he was expelled from his for bringing a gun to school, there was no ammo, and there was a trigger lock on it, he just wanted to show it to a couple buddies (and he totally deserved to get expelled). In grade 12, a guy was shot at our school, but it wasn't a wack job trying to kill a bunch of kids, it was a sore 20 something looser in the military who was dating a chick in grade 11 and she broke up with him, he came to the school with his gun, stood in the smoking area calling her name, pulled out his love handle with one hand and shot through it with the other.

Danger has always been around, sure it has gotten worse, but how worse it has gotten is amplified by the fact that we perceive danger a lot differently than we did when we were kids. I also thought that nothing dangerous ever happened when I went to school, what is this world coming to? 5 minutes of thinking back and I can up with two examples of guns at school in a town of 5000 people, 1 where a guy got shot.

you perceive danger differently when you are a cocky kid in high school. That guy who shot himself, i remember hearing the shot, everyone ran, know where they ran? they ran towards the sound to see what happened, knowing full well that it was a gun shot. So we look back thinking thigs were tame, now they are terrible.

don't you guys remember being kids and all the old people saying "what the hell is this world coming to, these kids are out of hand, their parents must be doing nothing, these kids will all be in jail some day".

20 years later people our age are waling down the street saying "what the hell is up with kids these days, they are out of control, where are the parents, this never would have happened when I was a kid, we respected older people".

No, you didn't!

The only thing that went bang at our high school were firecrackers
