Homeland fans... so what did you think?

Did you expect a car bomb and that ending? Or his suicide video broadcast on TV. Not sure how they got that though.

I thought it was great. Next season stars off with Carrie being the only person who believes Brody is innocent, which is a total flip from where it all started with her being the only person who thought he was guilty. Now he's on the run.

Why would the sim card with Brody's video be the only copy?

Saul is the only person alive other than Carrie who knows the video was made before Brody flipped back to the good guys, so anyone else seeing it -- the entire world basically -- puts in the context with the recent bomb.

I'm thinking because of the deal he made with the CIA and everyone who knew about it besided Saul and Carrie just died, that video getting leaked seemed out of place. Maybe there is someone else dirty in the CIA they have not introduced yet.

What ever happened to the black ops guy..

kane 12-17-2012 01:04 PM

I liked it a lot. I didn't see the bomb coming and it was a great ending. I look forward to seeing where this goes from here next season.

SBJ 12-17-2012 01:15 PM

I loved the ending! I was thinking the first 45 mins that this was way too boring to be the final ep for the year but it was good at the end.. Carrie staying behind to clear Brody was very expected.. The one thing I thought out of place was if that was the memorial for the vice pres wouldn't the president be there too?

And the sim card made me wonder too but like said above I think there was more than one copy of it and the terrorists that claimed responsibility were the ones that released that too.

I can't wait for next season! :thumbsup

He went to kill Brody and didn't when he had the chance. Then told Estes that if anything happened to Brody that he was going to kill him (Estes). Said he only kills "bad guys" and Brody wasn't one, as everything he told them checked out.

Didn't even think about the terrorist group releasing it. That would explain it. They planted the bomb in his car and released the video.

Yes, the president would probably be at the memorial too. Good catch.

SBJ 12-17-2012 03:50 PM

right after the bomb went off I thought Estes was framing him to make him out to be a terrorist again but he was the first one to die in the blast as he was standing at the podium at the time.

Brody totally explained it right to Carrie right after the bomb went off.. Everything that happened leading up to this including abu nazir's death was exactly what nazir wanted to happen.. By him making brody kill the VP he knew that the CIA would have a memorial and that would be the best place to kill the most amount of people..

I dvred it last night and after watching it the first time I re watched it starting 30 mins in to see if I missed anything.

David! 12-17-2012 04:04 PM

It was a blast! I don't trust Brody, it was just too convenient that he told Carrie the car was moved. Dexter final was great too, can't believe one more season and it's a wrap :(

sandman! 12-17-2012 04:12 PM

great episode next season will be good it seems.

well the car was really moved cause you even see him getting out of his car when it was in the parking lot. I was wondering if he had time to move it when he went outside to go around the building to meet Carrie but I don't think he did cause she was waiting at the elevator and didn't seem to act like it took him longer than her to walk around.

I'm not sure I totally trust Saul. I find it odd that he was at the funeral at sea at the time of the blast thus making him about the only one alive at that CIA and having a airtight alibi..

There is a lot of drama that will unfold in season 3. Also lets not forget that while Carrie will be trying to clear Brody she will also still be trying to hide the fact that brody did kill the VP to save her life.

Yea, Saul is a wildcard. Easy to like him but he has always had a hint of bad guy to him under all the smarts and kindness. And Brody isn't 100% cleared for me either. Just so unsure about him and teeter back and forth on it. My guess is they will milk this for as long as possible and we won't know for many more seasons, if ever. Could pull a Sopranos on us and leave everyone hanging.

I bet you're right. Maybe you can go to the bottom with this during off season?

Can't wait for season 3 btw

bronco67 12-17-2012 06:31 PM

Ok, it's a little ridiculous to think Saul is guilty of anything. Haven't you guys been paying attention to his character for 2 seasons?

yup I've watched every EP since the first one of season one.. Not saying I myself believe he is bad but if you look around the net there are some that think he could be.. Season 3 will come and we will see what happens next.. I just simply stated that while some might think Brody is still bad that others could turn out to be bad in next season or even season 4.

Saul was the interrogator and visitor for the 2 prisoners who offed themselves (razor blade and eyeglass lens). He also blew the answer to the question in his polygraph in Season 1 about slipping the razor blade to the prisoner, then quickly aborted his polygraph, took it again later and passed. Perhaps the writers want to leave some doubt re: his character. :pimp

V_RocKs 12-17-2012 10:44 PM

Not sure if you guys already stated it, but...

The video was played by the terrorists themselves. Ninety-nine percent of the time they make such videos and the play them on Al Jazeera.

As for Saul's nutsack I have to agree with Juicy.

MiLo 12-18-2012 05:50 AM

Great season finale that works as an opener for a (hopefully) excellent third season.

Feng-PD 12-18-2012 06:03 AM

i love this series... its awesome!

JerseyPuma 12-18-2012 07:21 AM

it got a bit too outlandish and silly for me this season -- but after the shit that went down with our actual CIA this year i suppose nothing is too ridiculous, so ill watch the third season.

Turf 12-18-2012 07:34 AM

it really kicked ass and the only thing bumming me out about it is that there is a whole year until we get to know how it goes from here.. 12 episodes a season is just toooo freaking few!

Ross 12-18-2012 08:21 AM

Never saw the ending happening either, was a great way to keep us waiting for season 3. I think Carrie is going to take the job of section chief and use it to clear Brody, looks like Saul will be Estes replacement. My Fiancee also mentioned about the President not being at the memorial, didn't cross my mind really until she pointed it out.

He didn't answer the question because it was worded in a way that would make him look guilty: "did you give Eileen the weapon she used to kill herself?". The correct answer would be yes, but he looked like he was disgusted at what Estes was trying to do, and didn't want to dignify the question with a response.

The lie detector results don't show what's actually a nuanced answer. He gave her glasses to read with, which became a weapon.

I was referring to the polygraph in Season 1 about the razor blade, his response in the first of 2 successive polygraphs illustrated that he was lying when he said no... Absolutely in Season 2, the wording in the question had him painted into a corner.

Paul&John 12-19-2012 12:01 PM

Was a pretty decent ending, the only thing I didn't liked was the fact that there was no security at all which would have checked every car coming to the ceremony.. not talking about parking one in front of the building :)

CurrentlySober 12-25-2012 02:01 AM

I saw this thread last week, but didn't click it as the final ep in the UK, wasn't shown until last night - I didn't want spoilers !

But YES - Great episode - Roll on season 3 :)
