Crazy Shooting Unfolding Locally

House catches fire. Fire / Rescue responds and 4 shot, 2 killed by a sniper.

As of now they haven't caught him, but my Facebook page updates with info from people who believe they know who the shooter is.

pornguy 12-24-2012 09:33 AM

Bryan G 12-24-2012 10:13 AM

Obviously the firefighters should be armed now too!

BlackCrayon 12-24-2012 10:33 AM

if you listen to the media, it seems the US is turning into mad max world but remember, violent crime in the US is down 5 years in a row.

Dirty F 12-24-2012 10:35 AM

I hope the NRA does something about this. Like arming the firefighters.

Dirty F 12-24-2012 10:35 AM

Clearly the answer to gun violence is more guns. Any idiot can see that.

L-Pink 12-24-2012 10:37 AM

I agree! We need to dummy down our society to the level of the mentally disturbed and the criminally insane. Nice solution.

Do you pay attention to places in the US where gun laws are the toughest? Like Chicago? They have some of the toughest gun laws in the country, yet 500 people were killed there by guns this year, which is more gun deaths than all troop deaths in Afghanistan - a war zone - during the same time period.

Yes, gun control works. :BangBang::ak47:

Rochard 12-24-2012 10:50 AM

The NRA will hold a press conference shortly saying that we need to arm both firemen and teachers. Then we can discuss arming bus drivers.

We need to keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill.

well to be fair state laws will have little effect when you can just hop to the next state over and buy whatever you want.

There are 300 million guns in this country. Getting rid of them is impossible. Even if all guns were banned, they'd still be smuggled in like drugs.

BigChad 12-24-2012 11:00 AM

Hearing way to many stories on this lately.. they must be wanting to implement new gun laws. Just like they did with health care... jack the prices up to cause a problem, then fix it to there liking.

livexxx 12-24-2012 11:10 AM

Background check on all private sales? Surprised there isn't a petition for that already.

candyflip 12-24-2012 11:36 AM

The firefighters killed were volunteers.

Slavery was stopped, nothing is impossible. You dont have to ban them, you just have to make it harder for people to buy them its too easy. These killings arent illegal guns but guns legally purchased.

Why, do you realize how many shootings there are each day? We have an insane amount of them in this country, it's just a few here & there are getting a bit more press after the latest school shooting.

Robbie 12-24-2012 11:45 AM

Crazy people wanting to get the same notoriety as the other crazy people this year. :(

The more the media spends 24 hours a day talking about it, unfortunately the more "copycats" they create.

Drugs are banned and there are zero drugs in the USA right? banning things works great...

candyflip 12-24-2012 01:29 PM

One of the volunteer firefighters killed was an off duty police officer.

They were also sniped from a distance as per reports. The fire was a trap.

What would of stopped this then???

Door to door searches of every house to turn in all weapons???

PornoMonster 12-24-2012 02:01 PM

What needs to stop is the media!!!!

L-Pink 12-24-2012 02:04 PM

The guy was a convicted murderer who was released from prison who decided to kill again. Odds are very good he didn't procure the weapon legally.

SilentKnight 12-24-2012 02:50 PM

Police have identified the suspect as 62-year-old William Spengler, convicted of manslaughter in the 1980 death of his grandmother. Spengler spent 17 years in the New York State prison system before being released on supervised parole.

Pickering said it?s believed that the gunman opened fire from high ground, possibly from a berm near the home. At one point, a responding police officer exchanged fire with the shooter.

The two deceased firefighters have been identified as Lt. Mike Chiapperini, who was both a firefighter and a member of the Webster police, and Tomasz Kczowka, a volunteer firefighter.

The injured have been identified by police as firefighters Theodore Scardino and Joseph Hofstetter.

Dr. Nicole Stassen, a trauma physician at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y., confirmed Monday that the two injured firefighters, Scardino and Hofstetter, are being treated at the hospital for "significant injuries."

She said Scardino suffered two gunshot wounds. One bullet struck his left shoulder, causing multiple breaks in the shoulder blade and travelling through a portion of his left lung. The bullet is still embedded in Scardino's shoulder, and may remain there permanently, Stassen said.

The other bullet struck Scardino's right knee, causing significant damage though it did not break any bones. Stassen said Scardino will likely be able to walk on the knee once his recovery is complete.

Stassen said Hofstetter has a single, "complex" injury resulting from a bullet that struck his pelvis. The bullet is embedded in part of his spine and has not been removed -- and likely never will be, she said.

Both men are in intensive care and their recovery is expected to take months, Stassen said.

That doesn't work. It's incredibly difficult (and expensive) to buy legal guns here, but incredibly easy to get illegal ones. I think we're in the top 5 in the world for murders committed with a firearm, and they couldn't make it any more difficult to get a legal firearm if they tried.

The poorest of the poor living in the slums who have no money to buy one illegally, make their own single shot pistols and kill a lot of people with them, one shot at a time.

There are too many guns now in the USA to try to make it more difficult to buy because you can still get them on the black market or at gun shows. Maybe 50 years ago it would have worked, but not now. Pandora's box is open.

Totally classless

Chris 12-25-2012 08:09 AM

my dad is a paramedic/firefighter and about 10 years ago he was on the ambulance and went to a call

as they where prepping the guy for transport he reaches under his mattress and pulls a shot gun and holds it to my dads chest for about a good 5 minutes while he was talked down

From that day out my dad has worn a bullet proof vest on any calls

That'd be like arming pilots and putting armed security on planes after 9/11. Thankfully we're not that stupid.
