Reporting child pornography on Twitter

I have been using Twitter for a while, and recently my timeline was filled with reactions to some Twitter accounts which were posting child pornography. Everyone was tweeting/retweeting/replying to said accounts asking their followers to report the accounts.

The problem is, when you tweet/retweet/reply you're linking to those accounts, sending them visitors. Which is why Twitter states explicitly in their guidelines NOT to tweet/retweet/reply to accounts guilty of that offence.

It took me all of eight seconds to find out how to report child pornography on Twitter, another fifteen to gather the links and email the complaint. Meanwhile these well-meaning but ignorant individuals kept doing the one thing they weren't supposed to be doing, and NOT doing the ONE thing they should have.

Out of my frustration I decided to write in plain language a guide on how to report cp to Twitter as well as to law enforcement agencies, and explaining the reasoning behind Twitter's policy.

I have posted the information on a wordpress.com blog so that the information can be freely distributed without it being hosted on an adult site. I welcome constructive criticism and input on how to improve this guide. Thank you for taking the time to read it if you do.

What do you do? You click the link(s). After all, you need to make sure it?s not a tasteless joke. And suddenly you?re faced with the horror and outrage that child pornography causes. Horror and outrage quickly change into anger, clearly something must be done instantly.

So you click ?Reply? to tell the Twitter account(s) which is/are posting child pornography how angry and disgusted you are, or ?Retweet? so everyone that follows you know about it, or you prepare a tweet to tell all of your followers to contact Twitter demanding that the Twitter account(s) which are posting it be removed immediately.

But before you click that pale blue ?Send? button, have you really thought about what you?re about to do?
