I sponsored three ghetto kids this year and not a single one sent me a "thank you" note.

Pretty sad. One "angel tree wish list" specifically listed some brand name jeans and Michael Jordan shoes. This is the last time I am doing this shit. :2 cents:

12clicks 12-27-2012 07:29 PM

So go next door and ask them why not

Helix 12-27-2012 07:31 PM

Fuck donations, our country is overrun unappreciative lazy fucks looking for a handout.

rowan 12-27-2012 08:35 PM

Better get used to it. My wife was volunteering for christmas duties at a charity and there were some people who complained about what they were given. These were hampers with food and other goodies, 100% free, yet they still complained.

Ya because not for profit charity started a little over 4 years ago...

freakcore 12-27-2012 08:51 PM

Don't feel bad. My wife is well aware of the origin of her gifts, that being yours truly and not one "thank you" was uttered. Just wanted to know if I had gotten her a case (phone). Spoiled bitch. :321GFY

L-Pink 12-27-2012 08:53 PM

That's why I sponsor no-kill dog facilities. I know my money is appreciated not expected.

Some are climbing down TGs throat for daring to expect more from society. Honestly, its not much to expect someone to show some gratitude or appreciate. Yes society in general is failing in such behavior, but that is no reason to let the standard or expectation be lost.

Whenever I help out, I look for sincerity when people utter simple words like "thanks", "this meant alot to me", or "Im going to pass it forward and help someone else." If it doesnt happen, then no big deal. I simply remind myself not to help again these same people or organizations, as there are others that are also in need.

Ummm..what "kid" sends fucking "thank you" notes lol (unless their parents tell them to do it). Shit, I'm 41 and I don't send gay ass thank you notes. Sounds like you are just coming up with dumb reasons not to donate.

Maybe you shouldn't have called them "Ghetto kids"? And sorry, but no one needs to spend $200+ on shoes just because they have Michael Jordan's name on them. $200 is much better spent on the Red Cross than stupid shoes.

lucas131 12-28-2012 08:06 PM

i bet they said thank you santa after all that unboxing :winkwink: will be nice to get thanks, but this is really not the right example :winkwink: and getting them jordan shoes better than red cross, man, it is always nice to fill kids dream :2 cents: keep up the good job :thumbsup

Yeah, fuck those broke-ass crackhead kids that can't read or write. Mooching ghetto fucks. Get a fucking job! I hate that shit. Always bleeding the system dry. Man, next time, send them the Help Wanted ads instead of gifts... That'll learn 'em. Assholes.

No Doubt. The NRA has been going around shooting helpless children lately. Whaddup wit dat?

Voodoo 12-28-2012 08:15 PM

I went to the Food Bank 8x this year and spent a total of about 48 hours loading boxes to feed the hungry. Know what I 'got' out of it? A good feeling that I helped out. That's all I needed.

baddog 12-28-2012 08:28 PM

Since my daughter started working for DCFS I started adopting families for Christmas. I made sure they were families that were not on some list, people that had no reason to expect anything. The social workers would always invite me to bring the gifts so I go to see the excitement and appreciation in their eyes.

Sometimes, mom would not speak English so I would have to get the oldest kid to give me details like A/S/Hobbies so they could get an appropriate gift. It was not a lot, but it was cool to see how appreciative these families were.

Stamps are expensive and a luxury for some. I know last year my contact told me she had a thank you card for me from the family, but she never made the effort to get it to me. TBH, I thought that sucked.

MPGdevil 12-28-2012 10:25 PM

Are we talking about angeltree.org? In that case they probably thanked God instead of you. I hate these religious charity combo bullshit organizations. Don't blame the kids. Blame the adults distributing the gifts. The kids probably never got your name or address.

Andretti 12-28-2012 10:29 PM

Please have some care.
They are kids and already hurt bro.

Why are you bolstering their genuine belief that they "need and deserve help and free shit"? You sound naive and juvenile.

My kids send thank you notes for whatever it is they receive for Christmas, Birthdays, etc. My wife and I have taught them and now that they are older, expect it.

It's called instilling decency and good values within your kids, hoping that they carry the tradition on with their own offspring. It's common decency when somebody gives you something to say THANK YOU.

You must be a real asshole. I feel bad for your wife and kids. You are half of societies problem. :2 cents:

I tend to agree, but a thank you isn't too much to ask.

That said, if these are "ghetto kids" they probably haven't had anyone show them the right way to live. We aren't fucking born with good manners. We had to learn. I know plenty of kids from nice, suburban households that are rude and entitled, too. Cut these kids some slack, and maybe find a way to let them know it's important to show appreciation. Just sayin.

ImLarge 12-29-2012 05:58 PM
