Five more children dead in assault weapons massacre. When will it end?

Time to ban SUV's after killing five children and an adult in Philadelphia,PA. SUV kills 5 Nowhere in the story does it say that anybody was driving so I guess the SUV killed them.
It's obvious these vehicles are so dangerous that we should pass laws banning their use.

Just how much do you care about these children? Oh wait, you don't care about them at all. You just use their deaths to cry about anti gun laws.
That's how you gun freaks role.

Right. That makes perfect sense. After all what other use is there for an SUV except to kill large numbers of people in seconds? Ban them. :error

We need to stick with the plan and ban high capacity vehicles.

The US people WANT to own guns. This is just a regular payment for their "constitutional right". Perhaps my words sound a bit bitter, but that's truth. It will least while the US people won't change their laws to ban guns once and forever.

Everything has its price in this World :2 cents:

As about the cars... Yes they are dangerous too, but they are NOT INTENDED to kill, and the modern civilization can't exist without them. And yes, we have to pay a deathly toll for using cars too.

Now answer to a simple question: are the guns that necessary like cars so people just can't live without them? So why the are not banned yet? Are you ready to get used to all those regular gun massacres in the USA to keep your firearm fetish legal?

Yes, absolutely. Contrary to popular belief, speed does NOT kill. Impacts kill. Performance vehicles are built to bring down the chance of impacts to absolutely minimal levels.

The reality is that the Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW M3, and vehicles like these are orders of magnitude safer than the Toyota Prius or Honda Civic. Know why? They have 10+ inch wide tires, independent front and rear suspension, and brakes that are the size of manhole covers.

When a vehicle is built for speed, it is built for literally ANY situation you can throw at it on the road.

And your analogy is not a good one for this debate, because performance vehicles are built with the express purpose of safe and efficient travel, not to splatter maximum brain matter on the wall.

Travel = reasonable

Bullets spraying brain matter on walls = unreasonable

Nah, debatable at most. If your country states max speed of 150 km/h what are we doing driving cars that can run at 220, 250, or even faster?

You want to drvie your Porsche in country A, where the speed limit is 150 km/h, no problem, take your car to a garage, let them cap your speed to 150, only THEN be allowed to register your car, and then drive all you want, sounds reasonable to me...

Second, your reading comprehension is off as it was about 1,000 miles away from Philadelphia, PA.

Guns aren't the problem. Funny, coming from someone who lives in the most gun violent country in the western world.

Nothing wrong with my reading comprehension that's what the article says.

--------------------------
Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell said the victims appear to have drowned after their Dodge Durango left a county road 20 miles southeast of Philadelphia just after midnight Saturday.
--------------------------

Don't you wonder though why the parents walked away 5 kids and a friend died. There's an outside chance that it was premeditated.

Last time I checked guns were inanimate objects, just like the SUV, just like a hammer or knife. It takes someone to shoot the gun, drive the SUV, wield the knife or hammer.
What part of that to you not understand?

Storms. Washed out roads. Now it's premeditated murder to support your claim?

Reading comprehension is still a problem. Apparently geography is, too.

That fact that there is a Texas, MD must really confuse you.

MattO 12-30-2012 11:22 AM

That's a stupid comparison because vehicles aren't made for the sole purpose of killing humans.

I'll bet if you polled 50 people on this board and without them looking at Google or a map, very few would know there is a Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Ever heard of Susan Smith?

Good summation and shows how pointless it is for those outside the US to complain. The guns are here. They are part of our culture. Violence is part of our culture. It's foolish to think anything will change.

I think you're onto something here.
According to the CDC here are some statistics.

In 2009, more than 5,400 people died in crashes that were reported to involve a distracted driver and about 448,000 people were injured.1

Among those killed or injured in these crashes, nearly 1,000 deaths and 24,000 injuries included cell phone use as the major distraction.1

The proportion of drivers reportedly distracted at the time of a fatal crash has increased from 7 percent in 2005 to 11 percent in 2009.1.
